Although most current medical students, residents, and cardiologists are aware that the Cardiology III stethoscope by Littmann is in vogue, I decided that the price tag attached to one of those stethoscopes was outrageously astronomical and decided to purchase this stethoscope instead. As the name implies, it is lightweight, and the acoustics are impressive. I don't believe that the cardiology III, which I have used, offers anything more that is usable in terms of acoustic data, unless you have very sensitive ears and/or are a cardiology fellow/attending. Remember that medicine is definitely not about who has the fanciest or most expensive tools, but about caring and thinking.
I also recommend this specific color; I ordered it thinking that no one else would have this color. I was crestfallen to find that it is a popular choice among nurses, who also choose this color thinking that it's not popular, and therefore a less likely candidate for theft/long-long term borrowing. However, I have grown attached to the color; it's easy on the eyes, and the computer monitor doesn't reflect the true color. It's a little darker. |

Littman has always been a trusted name for high quality stethoscopes. The Littman Lightweight is no exception. This is the perfect stethoscope for CNA, LPN, and Nursing students. It is also ideal for people who have trouble hearing with low quality steths.
This model is durable and well-made. It is lightweight and comfortable...which is important when you wear it around your neck for extended periods of time. The tubing is flexible and the earpieces are much better than cheaper versions. I began with this Littman and upgraded to the Littman Classic when I graduated Nursing school. In my experience, a quality stethoscope makes a WORLD of difference in the care that is provided. It is well worth the investment!!! |

| I never really thought it mattered what stethoscope you had. If it cost 15 or 60 dollars I didn't think there was much difference. I stand corrected. After listening to lung and heart sounds through this Littmann, I will never again settle for a cheap imitation. |

| I'm a student nurse and this is my second stethoscope. I had the simplest type and couldn't hear anything, thinking I was deaf. I've read plenty of reviews and finally chose Littmann light weight stethoscope. I was amazed by the clarity of sounds, light weight, and nice appearance matching my school uniform. Although, I think the tubing is short, I'm fully satisfied with my purchase and recommend it to everyone except tall :-). Listening to blood pressure sounds is an easiest thing now! |

| I am a student nurse in my second year. I purchased a combination set of stethoscope and BP cuff at my school book store for my clinicls. I couldn't hear very well with it, but I thought that was just how it was and it was just my inexperience. I went to a doctors office for a clinical and noticed all the nurses had one of these stethoscopes so I started asking questions about it. I purchased one here at Amazon through BP medical and was first of all delighted they had the color I wanted and a great price. My local supply store priced the same one to me at $74.00 before taxes. I received it in the mail just a few days later and I can hear everything! The soft ear pieces mean my ears don't hurt anymore, it is lightweight and durable as well as astoundingly clear. I now see that it was not my inexperience afterall. It was just the cheaply made stethoscope I was using. I recommend this one to anyone in the healthcare field student or professional. I will be buying this one again! |

| This basic Littman is good. I acquired it because my cheap $10.00 Prestige just wasn't cutting it when I went to do vital signs on older adult patients. Sounds come in much clearer and louder on this device. Very professional-looking as well. Definitely worth the price to get a genuine Littman. They also have ID tags that can be ordered to make it difficult for the nice, expensive tool to "walk away." |

Bought this around 6 months ago. Still works and sounds great. I compared it with the Cardiology Steth by Littmann, and you'd expect a huge drop off in quality of sound, and theyre wasnt. It sounded as good.
****** I guess the only con worth mentioning is its appearance. Looks a little goofy, but if you're on a budget, the quality is better than other lesser brands. Littmann is pretty much the only brand you should use as a professional. (what i mean is, it is, and should be the basic brand. Anything less is functional, but not as good) |

I have been debating whether or not to purchase a Littmann Stethoscope because all of my classmates have one. Now I know why! I'm glad that I finally purchased one. It is worth the buck. I practiced on my family members and compared with my cheap-o stethoscope, and you can really tell the difference! I can't wait to use it on my patients.
It's very light weight and I love the light blue color since it matches with my scrubs. I would recommend this as a gift for any nursing students. |

| Having used this stethoscope for the past 2 years I highly recommend it. It is lightweight, with longer tubing than the Littmann Cardiology scopes, and really a little workhorse especially at this price level. Deep chest sounds to high pitched carotid bruits can easily be heard. Littmann is known for its sound quality. If I were to upgrade it would be to another Littmann Littmann 2160 Master Cardiology Stethoscope, Black Maybe I should start my Christmas shopping a bit early this year. |

| I am a first year Nursing Student and thought that the Littmann Light Weight Stethoscope works really well. It is low cost, and light weight. It is very comfortable on my ears and quite sturdy. I throw it In my book bag when not using it, and can even put it in my pocket when I need to. I am a short person so the length is not a problem for me. I really bought this stethoscope because being a student I needed a lightweight, durable stethoscope that I could hear out well out of, and was low cost. I think this stethoscope has all those things. I also have gotten several compliments about it. The curved bell makes it easy to use when doing blood pressures, and it is very easy to clean. I am sure that eventually, as an advanced nurse I would need a better one, but for a first year Nursing student,I am able to hear lung and heart sounds clear. I would definitely recommend this stethoscope to anyone. |

This scope is very light, so it doesn't hang around the neck too well- it tends to flop, but the sound is great. I like it so much that I actually bought a second one for the other car. |

| I'm a recently trained EMT-1 and my instructor told me to purchase a starter Littmann for my first stethoscope. I found this product on amazon.com and saw that the price was greatly reduced, so I purchased it. I'm happy with the quality of the stethoscope, but since I'm new to the field and have not tried many other stethoscopes, I do not have the knowledge of how it compares to other similarly priced stethoscopes. It works well. I can hear lung sounds and the pulse for taking a blood pressure measurement quite well. Like I said, I bought this product because my instructor, who has been a paramedic for almost 20 years, told me that a Littman stethoscope was the way to go. I would reccomend this product for an EMT-1 like myself. |

| i bought this stethoscope because the one i had wasn't good and plus it broke. it's lightweight and the earplugs are soft and don't hurt like others would and the sound is great. i like it so much that i bought an extra one for my aunt because she was going to the medical field as well. |

It's a good product, but the color is somewhat inaccurate. It is sold as Ceil Blue, and it looks like a light blue in the picture, but it's actually closer to amber. It's good for women.
Besides that, it's a great product, heart beats are loud enough and clear. |

I previously had a cheap one, and it did its work. But when I compared it to this, it is much the difference to not notice it. You can hear the heartbeat much clearer. And both sides are better than the other cheap one where you could barely listen to the heartbeats.
On top of that the ear cushion are comfortable and the optional colors give it a custom touch. Although I had the bad luck my classmates decided to buy the same color...
Anyway, excellent product. |

I'm a recent college grad and just got hired for a new-grad RN position and wanted a new stethoscope. I bought the mandated Littmann used for school in my nursing program and like many other classmates always had problems with hearing adequately. Sometimes I thought I was deaf when I was unable to hear certain sounds. Well, needless to say, I struggled and learned to accept my less than stellar stethoscope for 2 years. I was struggling student and couldn't afford a better one or know which one would be better. Then one day, while working as a tech a nurse let me borrow her stethoscope to do vitals and it was the Littmann II S.E. and I was shocked by how good the acoustics were and how lightweight it was.
So as soon as I was hired as a RN I purchased mine and received it today. It's great! I love it, it's light weight, nice color even though I got the black, I really wanted the lilac color. The acoustics are superb. I can't wait to put it use on the floor!!! I would definitely recommend buying one of these for nurses or any other medical field.
It came in the usual littmann box with the book full of info about proper use, I wish it had of came with extra ear pieces but I have a few from before. |

| being a physician and someone who is going into cardiology i would say that this product is great. it is amazingly lightweight (it really feel like a feather around your neck...so much so that sometime i have to make sure it's still there) and this is important because i hadn't realized how much strain my previous stethoscope put on my neck (perhaps i just have a weak neck). however, all this lightweightness doesn't take away from being able to hear murmurs. this stethoscope is perfect for III/VI murmus and above in all four listening areas and nice with carotids as well. i'd say if you are trying to hear those I/VI murmurs...i'd look elsewhere...or get an echo. |

| Very good acoustics. If it lasts as long as my previous Littman (11 years) I will be very happy. Only problem is that the headpiece is heavier than the rest of the stethoscope so it tends to slide down towards the heavier end (head piece) if worn around the shoulders. |

| This is a good lightweight scope for non cardiologists. The plastic tubing is not shiny like the other littman scopes, and the metal is dull as well. but if you dont' are about the aesthetics, its a good scope for beginning students or nurses. |

| Perhaps mine's a dud. It's certainly an adequate stethoscope for BP but when it comes to hearing anything but the most discrete of breath sounds or obvious murmurs, I find it on par with just about any other stethoscope laying around the hospital (those which people wouldn't lose sleep over losing) I didn't really realize how inadequate it was until I compared it with a colleagues cardiology III. To that point I thought I was hearing, all be it very faintly, or sometimes maybe even fabricated by my imagination, the pathological breath sounds. The second I placed the cardiology III to the skin it was a whole new world of sounds. I wish i had invested in it sooner. Sure it's expensive and intended for specialists, but if your colleagues are hearing things that you aren't then the added expense makes the learning well worth the investment, not to mention the benefit to the patient. In my opinion the lightweight isn't worth the 50 bucks just to take blood pressure and hear breath sounds and murmurs you can already practically hear walking in patient's room; for that just pick of a cheapy "disposable" stethoscope. Not only the the "disposable" ones cheaper, they are also considerably lighter. The name is a misnomer, inspite of the plastic chest piece, it's still actually a pretty heavy stethoscope compared to other simple scopes out there. |

| I couldn't hear well out of this. I heard better with my crappy Prestige stethoscope. I sent it back, bought the Cardiology III (which is too expensive, in my opinion, but I was having problems with the ear pieces hurting in the Prestige, and the cheaper Littman Lightweight wasn't doing the trick with sounds), and really like it. The oblong-shaped diaphragm piece on this product may be good for blood pressure measurement, but it's not as great for heart sounds or for listening in small areas (or on small chests). If you don't have the thing pressed down just right, part of it sticks up, and you can't hear. I heard a lot of "artifact" buzzing and rustling, but not much in the way of lung sounds and heart sounds. I don't think it's worth the money...I'd say either go cheap, or go expensive, but this product didn't cut it for me. |

The lightweight ii is not a bad stethoscope. You'll be able to hear some sounds, albeit faintly. However, after comparing this scope to a couple other littmans, I can say that this one does not offer the quality that you'll find in the Littmann Classic line, and especially not the Cardiology ii that you see all the medical students buy. All the sounds were just far too faint. If you're looking for a scope that will do the bare basics (Littmann recommends this one for BP checks, only), look no further. But if you want to be able to clearly hear murmurs, lung sounds, and other diagnostic sounds, I wouldn't recommend this scope. Move up to a Littmann Classic II S.E. Stethoscope Black Edition or Stethoscope,3M, Littmann,Cardiology, II Burgundy 27 inc.
Now I need to sell this scope. Any takers? |
