Well here is a cold, honest and disgusting review of Alli.
I'm not heavy, but i've been wanting to shed off about 5 to 10 pounds for the last year now. The problem was I was just too lazy. Well I finally got my act together and started walking an hour a day and eating better. After about a week of doing this (at this time I had shaved off about 1 or 2 pounds) my slightly overweight boss told me about Alli and how he had been using it for about a week and he already felt a couple pounds lighter. My first thought was sure, if this can double the speed of my weight loss i'll do it. So I quickly went out to a local Kroger to pick up the 60 capsule starter kit. I read the info that came with it that night and started taking the pills the next morning before every meal.
The first 2 days I didn't notice any kind of side effects. I thought all the reviews I read on the web were from people who ate nothing but junk because I was eating decent and nothing happened. Well on day 3 after I had my cereal/pill combo in the morning, within minutes I felt kinda gassy and I passed it as usual. Later, when I got up, the inside of my pants felt greesey. Was I sweating? No.. something much worse. Apparently I had passed the 1/4 fat that Alli blocks. Apparently it took about 3 days to finally hit me with the side effects. Needless to say I quickly threw my clothes in the washing machine and took a shower.
The stuff sure is sneaky... I had no idea thats what was going on down there until it was too late. I'd suggest anyone who has a hard time controlling their gas to not take this pill in public as you may be in for some embarassment. As for me, I now know to hold everything until I get home. The bright side is that i've lost more weight since I started this pill and it seemingly works great other then these nasty side effects. The funny thing is that I eat mostly lean meats, wheat bread and swiss cheese since i started my diet and I still get the side effects. I can't imagine the mess if I took one after eating Pizza or cheeseburgers...
A weight-loss pill that actually works, and embarasses at the same time! |
MORE THAN JUST A PILL

Well... I almost NEVER leave reviews, but this is important! I've been on the "My Alli Plan" for 5 1/2 weeks and have lost 19 1/2 lbs. You DO have to work the program, it is not magic and not an appetite suppressant. I have lost 65-70 lbs. three times in my life, all on low carbs. Problem is; I can't live the rest of my life with limited carbs, so I have gained it back every time. The solution...with a low calorie and low fat diet, you WILL lose weight and really you can have ANYTHING you want! Just count the grams in your daily allowance.
O.K. about Alli, MORE THAT JUST A PILL, with a purchase you go online and register your product code in your pack. I registered the 90 pill starter pack and I received 90 days of online support, with EVERYTHING you need (as far as tools and information) to follow the plan. If you were to join an online weight loss plan such as Weight Watchers it would cost $65.00 FOR 3 months. So you get that free with ALLI, which is a $65.00 value in itself (which in a way, pays for the pills, mine were $60.00 + tax.). They have a meal planner, a food log, a recipe lookup, a water log, a weekly weigh-in, a calorie and fat counter, an activity log listing calories burned, an automatic tally of what you consume, a weekly plan, with guidance for the next step, and a message forum to talk with others (the buddy system). Sure there is more, but I can't name them all.
All that said, Personally I do NOT space the fat evenly between 3 meals, or limit the fat to the recommended 19 grams per meal, Sometimes I eat 40 grams of the 60 I'm allowed in a day, at 1 meal! I take the pill with the meal, and I have had NO TREATMENT EFFECTS. The only difference in the way I "go" is that I do go every morning after my 1st cup of coffee; it is softer than before, but NEVER runny or uncontrollable; and never an upset stomach or "go cramps".
I think honestly, that the online support plan & useful tools it provides, is worth MORE than the price of the pill. So even if you are one who does not like the pill, for whatever reason...you still get a value with the "My Alli Plan" website.
Furthermore...it teaches you how to follow a plan and what you can eat, and what to substitute for your cravings, that you CAN live with for life.
If you fall off, don't think it's over, get back on! Enjoy, eat healthier, and live long!

Alright so check it out - everyone seems to jump right on their computer like the next day after starting these pills and write a scathing review about how the product either doesn't work or causes catastrophic "treatment effects." If you read the literature accompanying Alli, you will find out that there are certain measures you should be taking both before you start the pill and obviously throughout the time that you use the product. If you just binged on fast food and foods with high fat content and then start taking the pill the next day, bad things will probably happen. And let's be realistic, 2 or 3 days is not enough time for your body to shed drastic amounts of weight, no matter how fast we want it to go away. There are about 3500 calories in a pound, so keep that in mind and don't get discouraged.
I've been on Orlistat for the full 20 days that the starter pack allots for and I've lost 10 pounds. I weighed 208 when I started, I'm now 197. I had been dieting casually and hitting the gym hard for the previous two or three months and had lost weight (started at 236 in early May) but began to hit a plateau where I was seeing only about 2 pounds being shed every couple of weeks. So, losing about 11 pounds in such a short amount of time with roughly the same diet and exercise program has proven to me that this pill does make a difference, and about exactly what it says it does - 50% more weight.
However, you must play around with your diet.
While I was taking in about the same amount of calories (1800/day) as I was before starting Alli, I had to adjust the fat content so that I was taking in MORE fat. This is the key to losing the weight. The medicine works by blocking about a third of the fat your body absorbs from the food you eat, so if you are eating only 3 grams of fat with a reduced calorie meal (like some of the people on here eating only like lettuce and reduced fat wheat bread..crazy..) the pill won't have much of an effect, and doesn't that make sense? For example, instead of eating a plain sub with turkey and vegetables that has only about 5 or 6 grams of fat, I add cheese and low fat dressing and maybe baked chips to bring the total to about 15 grams of fat, thus making the pill more effective. However, YOU STILL HAVE TO STAY WITHIN YOUR CALORIE TARGETS FOR EACH MEAL, for me about 400 to 600. All unused calories that aren't burned off as energy will be stored in your body as fat for energy later, so try and take in what you need to sustain yourself throughout the day, using an analogy equating your stomach to a gas tank in a car being 1/4 to 3/4 full.
So, if you're willing to do some experimenting with your body (yeah, we all get the treatment effects now and then and it is best to take the advice of the other people on here and get to a bathroom no matter what) you can benefit greatly from Alli. And another thing about the treatment effects, you will be disciplined to make the right choices more often when using the pills but for those times when you can't find it in you to turn down something naughty, don't take the pill with what you're eating. The bad food will probably still catch up with you as a result of the Orlistat already in your body, but it won't be as bad. And the treatment effects really aren't the hellish nightmares that I even thought they would be when I began. Just be responsible.
Read the material, exercise, and eat the right foods at the right times. It's all the ABC's of eating healthy basically, you're just adding a catalyst that is safer than other caffeine-pumped weight loss aids that can land you in the hospital. |
An honest testimonial.

This is not going to make you look like Paris Hilton by tomorrow. If that's what you're looking for, see a psychiatrist rather than an endochrinologist!
This is not going to keep you from being hungry. There's plenty of junk on the pharmacy & "herbal supplement" store shelves for that.
What it will do, is mitigate some of the fat you eat. If you have an extremely low-fat diet, it will do nothing for you. If you have an extremely high-fat diet (i.e. an American) it will do lots.
My credentials: I've been taking doctor-prescribed Xenical for a several years now. I've recently switched to Alli, because it is the exact same chemical ingredient (Orlistat) at exactly half the dose, and is significantly cheaper.
My results: When I started, I weighed 320 lbs. I now weigh 240. Now, I can't give all that credit to Alli, because in the two years it took me to lose the 80 pounds, there were numerous other factors to consider. Mostly, changes in my medication for type 2 diabetes. But the important point is, there was no change in diet or exercise over that period. Makes it a pretty good success story in my book.
Point 1) All of the other diet drugs fall into a couple of categories. One of which is the "appetite suppressant" group. Means nothing to me, because I'm never fighting my appetite. I eat well (and, according to two diabetic dieticians, appropriately) so I seldom get so hungry I have to binge. I understand the phenomenon, (on the rare occasion I miss two meals in a row, I'm ready to main-line Sugar Pops) and feel truly sorry for those who experience constant hunger, but Alli won't help that.
The second group are the "Metabolism Stimulants". You want to take "uppers" to lose weight? You deserve everything that happens to you. It's not for me. And Alli won't help you with that, either.
The point is THEY ARE ALL DRUGS, by definition. They enter the bloodstream and work on some chemical or organ in some way. Problem is, you expose every cell in your body to every one of them. Side-effect galore.
Alli is not a drug. It never leaves your gastro-intestinal tract. Pie-hole to Hershey highway, no destructive stops along the way. The so-called side-effects are identical to the effects of particular foods. Sure, they are real, and maybe you can't live with them, but it's nothing compared to the potential damage from the other drugs & herbs.
So the point is that this food additive stands alone as a non-drug alternative to weight loss. If you're like me and are plagued by half the side-effects listed of about every drug on the shelf, then this (and insulin) won't hurt you.
Point 2) This will mitigate a high-fat diet to some degree. Literally can't live without some bacon in the morning? Some animal must die for you have eaten well? Think of butter as a beverage? Well, stage one is "don't eat like that". Once you determined that your quality of life is more important than the advice of the putz from stage one, move on to stage two. Alli's whole deal is to simply bind with the fat you've eaten and pass it through. So with no change in your diet, you'll be eating less fat. Period. It's tough to imagine a scenario where reducing the fat in your diet isn't a good thing. (Fat soluble poisons collected in your system? You're already Paris Hilton? Macrobiotic? O.K., then move on. Everyone else, line up.)
Point 3) As I said before, the side-effects do exist. With practice and good sphincter muscle control, you will be able to skywrite. Six-hour staff meetings are a thing of the past. In the worst cases, keep a spare pair of BVD's handy. (That one's right from the manufacturer. Believe them.)
Basically, if you've ever had a bowl of my chili, you'll be fine. If your fastidious about your "number two" habits, you might want to give it a miss. Oh, and don't miss a day. I believe the ballistic equivalent would be called a "sabot". I won't go into further detail here. Just trust me.
So, to summarize:
It won't help you with your appetite.
It won't affect your metabolism.
It will remove some amount of fat from your diet.
It will give you the green apple quick step.
It will help with diabetes. (Lowered my average blood sugar by 50 points!)
It will take time to lose weight. (But hey, I should be the "Jarod" of Alli. It does work.)
It will lighten your wallet.

| Okay i read all the reviews, and agree with some that the "treatment effects" are disgusting. But hey as a woman who desperately needed to shed 20 pounds they didnt bother me. I was alli since the first day it came out back in June 2007 and I didnt notice any changes for the first couple weeks. Well about 2 months later people started saying i looked slimmer so i got on the scale, I LOST 11 POUNDS...i was so excited. I started at 165 and was 155. I am a nurse so i started doing research about orilast which is the active ingredient in alli and realized that the prescription strength was double of what the over the counter strength was so i started to take 2 pills with every meal. (more expensive) but OH MY how it made wonders. I lost 9 more pounds in a month. I got down to 146 which for me and my frame was satisfying. I currently am on my last bottle now since i have lost a total of 23 pounds and realize that i will not need them anymore because i know how to maintain weight i just had problems losing it. I hope this helps all the people who want to start it. If you really need to lose weight it works GREAT. it has changed my life and made a happier thinner person. |

I have been taking Alli for 3 1/2 months. I have lost 33 pounds. By no means is Alli a "miracle" pill. I have cut back my fat consumption a lot.
When I first started with Alli, I was like the others - very nervous about the treatment effects. I was so worried about passing gas and messing myself instead. However, I have found that is not the case. I was very careful for awhile until I realized I had not had a bowel movement in a few days. Then I ate a little more fat. I will sometimes find the oily stool people talk about but I have never had it on my panties or anywhere else. Like I said though, I have cut a lot of fat out of my diet. If I plan on eating a fatty dinner I just don't take Alli. Diet is not about starving or torturing yourself, it is about knowing when to say when. I have gotten so sick of people saying this product is awful but they haven't even tried it.
It has worked for me and I sure hope it works for you. |

| I've been taking this for about a month, and lost weight very steadily (no small feat give that I'm within 5 lbs. of my preferred weight already). I've had no treatment effects because I followed the INSTRUCTIONS that come with it. It defnitely works, but I can't help but chuckle at all these dire warnings like "can't go out after I eat" and "side effects are horrible". Um. No. You guys are still eating too much fat with your meals, that's why you're having all these treatment effects, and the plan is very clear and specific about that. It's not mysterious or complex, and it's not the pill's fault. It's for people who want a little extra boost in their rate of weight loss while practicing healthy weight loss habits, and also serves as a motivator to not eat too much fat, but it's not difficult to avoid at all. It IS NOT for people who want to continue to eat cheeseburgers and fries and half a pizza, then blame their lack of weight loss on a pill. |

| After reading so many negative reviews, I decided to share my experience of Alli. I am currently a graduate student in medical school and my research mainly focus on metabolic disorder (especially diabetes) and heart diseases. I'm 28 yo and sitting my fat butt in front of the computer more than 12 hours a day. I decided to start with Alli because my BMI suggested a higher risk for heart disease and I also suffer from high cholesterol together with high LDL while my HDL is too low to help me get rid of the high risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. My weight was 139lbs when I started Alli last Friday. I've been following the 1200 calories meal plan but I don't have time to work out at all. I weighted myself this morning totally out of guilty feeling about what I ate yesterday - I had pizza for lunch during a meeting and four pieces crispy fried chicken together with a huge corn on the cob from KFC for dinner (wait a minute, I actually also had some string cheese as night snacks...). And my weight this morning is actually less than 134lb. After all those fried chicken, this morning is actually the very first time I observed those oil drops floating in the toilet and I've never experienced any bloating stomach or smelly gas problem at all. However, I do find that Alli helped cure my appetite and keep me energized all the time. If it's true that Alli contains only one active content as the enzyme blocker, then probably the Alli meal plan helped a lot to keep me full and energized all the time. I started Alli at the last day of my period and I think the hormone cycle also helped me to lose these four lbs in the past few days. I'm going to keep the diet and use Alli to see if I can lose another 5-6 lbs before my next period comes then I will stop Alli to see if I can stay those weights off. And hopefully I will be able to find some time to work out, which may help shed off more lbs by working with Alli and its mean plan. I strongly suggest every Alli user to get on the website and register your Alli as to get some inspiration and meal plans from GSK. Alli provides users with weekly weight-in check, motivation and plans, which actually help me a lot (tho I'm also wondering if they are using those weekly survey as a way to collect a large-scale and "free" clinical data for Alli). My conclusion about Alli - please stick with the low fat diet and don't forget to eat a centrum every night before you go to bed. Vit B complexes actually help to boost part of your metabolism while other lipid-soluble vitamins from Centrum help to replenish the nutrients that may be lost with those undigested oil in the presence of Alli. |

Honestly I can't believe the people writing 1 star reviews for something that they haven't even tried. It's laughable really!
I've been on Alli almost 2 weeks going into my third week. I am also following Weight Watchers which I have been doing about 1 year and have lost 70+ pounds doing that alone. I was at a point where I was stuck and just not losing anymore. Since starting Alli, the first week I lost 6.8 and the second week I lost 4.2. I haven't had any disasterous side effects (pooping etc)....not at all. So I find it funny what other people said about it.
I find the product works. I'm planning on purchasing more when the current bottle I have runs out. |

I began using Alli a few days ago. Yes, I'm fat because I overeat and haven't worked hard enough at controlling my food intake. What Alli has provided for me is the "inspiration" or whatever you want to call it to plan my meals every day, to exercise every day, and to really think about whether I want to put a certain piece of food in my mouth. So while I realize it is in no way a miracle pill, it is helping me make better choices than I was just a week ago. I do not plan to take this pill forever, but I'm hoping that using it will help me focus on nutrition and learn better eating habits.
I have not experienced any side effects, however I have really watched my fat and calorie intake (yes, I know that's why I've lost 6 pounds already). So far, I would recommend Alli! |

Alli can help you lose weight. I've been taking Alli for one month. I wanted to take it for that long before reviewing it. So far, I've lost 13 lbs. My weight loss added up to 5 lbs in the first 4 days. Overall, I lost 6 lbs the week, 4 the second, another 1 the third week and 2 in the 4th week. That was including 2 big cheat days in that 4th week. I've not exercised one bit.
It's easy to forget to take the pill, so I try to take it before I eat. I think I've been successful because I practiced healthier eating for about 5 days before I started. It's a completely different way of eating for me. I probably ate 5-10 times the fat and 2-3 times the calories before making this change. I feel great and have had only one uncomfortable moment with the treatment effects. That was when I gave in to my nightly urges and ate 2 slices of bread slathered with mayo. I was fine that night, but the next day after taking Alli, I got the gas with oily discharge. That mayo was straight fat! I have eaten mayo several times since but I measure it carefully - no more than a tablespoon and balanced with other low fat foods (haven't tried tuna salad yet). As someone else here wrote, fear of soiling oneself is a powerful motivator :o). So I have made radical but good changes to my eating habits and I have to say I'm almost never hungry and happy as a clam.
At first I stocked up on vegetables, chicken, fruit- even made a beef roast and some steaks. That broccoli and kale haven't been touched. I'm too busy to spend much time cooking so I loaded up on Smart Ones, Lean Cuisine, Healthy Choice, diet drinks and my new best friends, 100 calorie snack packs and Boca Burgers (best when microwaved). I love butter too, so for a while I ate only 1/2 TB at a time. Now I've switched to I Can't Believe It's Not Butter.
But this is all about Alli. Along the way I asked myself, why take Alli when the diet alone is working? I continue because Alli helps me lose 50% MORE weight (from the fat I eat plus fat I've stored over time). The sooner I reach my goal, the better. I take Alli only if I eat a meal/snack with at least 9g of fat. Since I want that extra boost from Alli, I try to take at least one a day. This has been fun and eye-opening. Already I can fit into the jeans that I couldn't pull up past my thighs for 3 years. I could eat this way and take Alli forever.
Note: Calorie-Count Plus helps you stay on track with a calorie-counter. Registration is free. It tells you how many calories you need for weight loss. Log everything in the tracker. I go over by about 300-400 calories everyday but I'm still losing :o) You can also keep your own private journal. (http://caloriecount.about.com) |

And, an answer to the question of how the fat is removed---"both ways". Drinking lots and lots of water really helps the process. |

| This product works exactly as the advertising states it does. However, when you first start taking it, don't plan any long road trips because you need a nearby bathroom. I am serious about this! I am trying to lose that last 15 pounds and since I started taking this product, I have lost 6 pounds in 3 weeks. It is not an instant fix, but combined with a proper diet and exercise it helps the pounds melt off. I only take capsules with lunch and dinner and do not take them every day because I noticed they did not seem to be working if taken every day. Also, DO NOT use this product to compensate for eating something like wings or a "bloomin' onion" because you will have pure oil coming out of your backside and an upset stomache for hours. I would recommend Alli to be used as part of a weight loss and fitness program. |

| I started the alli "plan" six months after having my first child. I was having a hard time dealing with the extra weight I had gained. Before I got pregnant I was a size 8 and averaged around 135lbs (I'm 5'5"). I began after I went to the Dr. and weighed in at 173lbs. I started the pills two days later. I started watching my fat when before on diets I only counted calories. Three weeks later I went back to the doctor and had gone down to 165lbs. Two weeks later again and I was at 161 lbs. I have had very minimal treatment effects and I've even cheated a few times. A few weeks ago I bought a size 11/12 jean (my first pair of non maternity pants was a 15) and now they're getting loose. I love this product. I've just ordered a pack for my mother and a refill for me. |

I have been using this product for over 3 weeks now. I know when I have had too much fat. The oil that floats on top of the water is proof enough to me. I have had no gas problems, no staining or anything like that. I do go more frequently but nothing too bad. IF I eat out at fast food on my off day (I workout for 5-7 days per week and 1 day I eat something that I want to, fast food meal or dinner out etc....) then I notice a day later or so I have more oil in the toilet.
The stools are looser to be sure but nothing that I cannot live with. I am totally satisfied and just bought my 2nd bottle. |

After reading all these negative reviews I want to know what their stats and situatons are; without that information, their comments are useless to me. I am a male, 45, 5 10, and was at 280 lbs a few months back. Despite what people will say everyone is different and I challenge anyone with similar stats to exactly follow what I ate & exercised over the last few years and gain the 100lbs I did in two years. I have been checked and rechecked and so far no 'medical' reason has surfaced for my weight gain.
So back in April I decided to try a number of diets. I was able to drop to drop 17 lbs but then I hit a wall and stayed at 263. I started Alli a week ago and I am happy to report that I am at 258. For me, its working for two reasons. The first is if you eat too much fat you will experience what others have described here. That alone makes me think twice before I eat anything. The other may be psychological but for the first time in a very long time I am feeling satisfied (not exactly full but not interested in eating more) when I eat.
So right now it seems like it is working for me. I will update my progress in a few weeks - I think that will be more helpful than one week. |

This is very simple. I packed on an extra ten pounds when I quit smoking. I have been on the drug for two weeks - maintaining a diet of less than 15 grams of fat within every three hour span. I DO NOT go over ever, if you cannot find out or know the fat content or portion - you simply cannot eat it. The bad press just shows how much ignorance is out there and how people cannot control what they put in their mouth i.e. the obesity epidemic. I have lost 4lb and intend to lose 6lb more at which point I will stop the diet. I would recomend this to anyone that is looking to lose wieght - but only if they had the ability to control themselves. You will not S*** your pants - if you simply follow the rules. Personally, I find it was the most wonderful diet ever. Because, there are serious consequences to cheating; I don't need to learn the lesson - I am able to control myself and if you are the same, this drug helps you lose wieght at almost 200% as fast as dieting alone.

| i started alli 3wks ago today and have lost 8lbs. i go to the gym 5 days a week on my lunch break and do about 25-30mins cardio and 15mins stretching/abs/weights. i eat well and watch the 15 gram fat factor. eat too many nuts/dairy in one sitting and you'll pay! i have suffered some side effects, nothing that would stop me from using this product! i have been very successful, get off your butt and eat more veggies/protein and you'll see results! i only take 2 pills daily since my breakfast is usually very low fat. before alli i couldn't lose ANY weight, going to the gym didn't help, neither did a nutritionist or weight watchers. If you have self control and belong to a gym, GO FOR IT! |
Plain & simple - it works

| I love it. I am about 25 lbs over MY ideal weight and a couch potato ;o) ... I'm gonna keep it real -- it is as simple as taking it with every meal. Forget the review that's talking about " do the math " ... it's not complicated .. everyone hates a critic ;) ... I am not changing a whole lot in my diet, I don't eat a lot but what I do eat is GOOD (higher in fat). I have been on Alli for 2 weeks. Have taken the pill religiously with every meal. And I have lost 7 pounds and have not yet implemented exercise so i can only imagine the results when i start the treadmill this week. They may not call it a miracle pill, but I do, and without it I would still be 7 pounds heavier. I have not had any "embarrassing accidents". Gas is a little more stinky, but i can still keep it under control. I normally have regular poo but now it's a tad bit more often, and much softer .. but again, i can keep it under control. Also, every now and then I get a little crampy, but big whoop. I have no complaints AT ALL and highly recommend it. 18 more lbs to go and at this rate, i'll hit it in about 4 more weeks. You can't beat that. |
Works great if you take it right.

| I really get tired of people saying this makes you crap all over yourself. WELL DUH read the instructions because it warns you of this. It warns the effects if you dont follow the dietary instructions. They are not in there to take up space. I lost weight just fine and never had an "accident." I honestly dont see how someone can give something a bad review when it is their fault it does not work in the first place. |
really works, no side effects if you eat right

| This has been a great motivational pill for me. I have not had any side effects whatsoever. If you stay within the fat grams, you don't even know you are on it. In the first two weeks, Ihave lost 6 lbs... I am one who never loses more than 2 lbs a week no matter how much I exercise or diet. Will be buying the refill pack soon. :) |

I am over 55 and have a healthy lifestyle that includes excersize and lots of salads, but not been able to get under 250 for 8 years. I have been using alli for 9 weeks and lost 13 pounds, and I went on vacation for 2 weeks. I have eaten out at restaurants and overendulged a little, but never gone crazy. I have not had any discomfort or embarassing effects, a little gas and one surprise spotting when I thought I had just passed gas.
This product is not for everybody and not for people who only need to lose 5 pounds or for people who cannot limit their fat intake to a reasonable level.
I have always been heavy and this is the first time in 15 years I have been under 250. I have not changed my diet significantly (maybe just being more careful sometimes) and lost weight. This is the kind of plan I can stick with. Because you can have(and need to have for the product to work) some fat, it is much more satisfying than other diets.

| I have experienced only slight side effects from Alli. I have lost 45 lbs in approximately 10 to 12 months. I not only took the Alli but, excerised and ate the proper foods. I am so happy with this product I would recommend it to everyone. It is great! |

| I've been on a diet for 6 and a half months, with a total weight loss goal of 50 lbs. after loosing 20lbs (be dieting alone) i found myself at a stand still with my weight. I started taking alli 2 and a half months ago, and the result - with the help of alli i've lost an additional 25lbs!! Granted it's not just a miracle pill that you take and loose weight - its a diet program. I watch what I eat, and allow one cheat meal a week so i don't feel deprived. I still eat the foods i love, just in smaller quanities. ex - a handful on Chips instead of the whole bag! Anyway, my only regrets is I didn't find Alli sooner! Oh, and I didnt experience any of the side effects except on a couple occations when I totally pigged out. As long as its a moderate amount of fat, you should be fine :) |
Amazing!

This product is amazing. I've been taking it for a little less than 2 weeks and I've already gone down a size, doing nothing but eating a little healthier and taking the Alli. I'm not technically overweight, but almost, and I want to lose 20-30 pounds before the end of the summer. I realize my use of this medication may be controversial.
I've had no uncomfortable side effects, no cramps, no digestion problems...the only "side effect" I've had is oil in my stool, which I, in a sick way, don't mind much because it's reassuring to know that it really is working. I've recommended this to several people, including my mother, who it turned out was already taking it! She loves it too.
My only recommendation is that you might as well purchase the refill pack instead of the starter pack since it includes more pills for almost the same price. The instructions are very simple: just take one whenever you eat something with fat in it, up to three times per day...and they recommend a healthy diet. You really don't need all of the extras that come with the starter pack. |
Lost 10 pounds

| I have yo-yoed ten pounds trying the south beach diet, isogenix, worked with a personal trainer etc. I started Alli the day it came out. So in two months I have lost ten pounds. I have always worked out at least 30 mins a day 3-4 times a week. I generally watch what I eat. I just could not lose that last 10 pounds. Because of the reduction in fat calories, it has made the difference for me. It does reinforce a low fat diet by encouraging you to avoid treatment affects. Mine are minimal and predictable based on what I have most recently eaten. I would say this product is best for folks who have been watching what they eat and trying to exercise but have plateaued. |
Eat too much fat and you will have embarassing results

Sorry to be so graphic, but it's true. This pill is great when you do not eat too much fat in your meal. For instance, a chicken burrito with no sour cream would go down fine. However, if you have a cheeseburger and fries, you will find what looks like pizza oil in your underpants after a sudden gas attack. It sounds gross, but wear a pantiliner if you're going out to eat something greasy, just in case.
Keeping this in mind, I've lost five pounds so far and I've taken it for a month without changing my diet and exercise.
Don't forget to take your vitamins every night! Alli binds to fat and makes it indigestible. So any vitamins that are fat-soluble (travel with the fat you eat) will get flushed out with the fat.
Overall, a great buy that makes you feel less guilty when you are on a diet and want to eat something naughty. |

I've been on alli for six days now. I've definitely lost weight without changing one iota of my normal lifestyle. I eat "real" food. I will never eat reduced fat margarine or skim milk. I don't eat a lot, but when I do it's meat, fish, pasta, and the like, and I'm a huge cheese/olive oil/cream-based sauce fan.
I honestly think alli was made for somebody like me. No offense, but really what's the point of taking a fat-blocker if you're consuming only 45 grams of fat per day anyway? Good for you if you're one of those people who are happy with the cardboard-like fat-free cheese and fat-free cooking spray, but that's not me.
As someone who does consume fat, I should tell you about the "treatment effects." The only difference I've noticed is that I do need to go to the bathroom now when I first wake up in the morning (it used to be after coffee), and there is visible oil. The oil looks like the droplets you see when you open up a can of chicken stock. I totally feel fine though, and I have had no issues with leakage, "not being about to make it," or gas.
I haven't been on a scale, but I am definitely thinner. I will keep you posted with weight loss results. By the way, I'm a 5'7", 150-pound, size 6 female. |
