all the difference in the world

I have severe acid reflux, and, even with prescription and OTC medicines, I was still waking up almost every night of the week with miserable, choking acid symptoms.
The first night I got this was the first full night of sleep I'd had in ages. And, ever since getting this pillow two-plus months ago, I have had not one single night of acid-awakening. Not one! The difference is night and day, truly amazing.
An unexpected benefit is that the solid wedge pillow gives a great deal of back support; I've noticed a difference in upper back pain in particular since getting the pillow. It's quite firm, so it keeps your back in a firm line.
This isn't a soft, cushy pillow and isn't meant to be, so do be aware of that. But it wouldn't work if it was. I repeat, this has been a tremendous health benefit for me, in more ways than one.
Also, it's much easier than elevating your bed with casters, and it's portable.
HIGHLY recommended.

| I am so pleased with this item. I am a large person with a bad back and even worse neck. I was afraid this would compress flat, losing the benefits of the wedge shape. I was also afraid my back and neck couldn't handle the incline. Not so! It is very firm but still confortable, giving support to both neck and back. It's very sturdy. It is wide enough to allow me to sleep comfortably and long enough to give me room to put my contour pillow at the top and still have head room. No snoring or reflux since night one. The pillow case is soft and fits tight. Delivery was very fast. I would recommend this to everyone, unless you are looking for a soft, cushy, squishy thing just to sit up in bed. |
Esophageal/Gastric Cancer Sleep Relief

After Esophageal/gastric cancer surgery, this pillow has been great. It's the perfect height to prevent reflux from spilling into lungs, and the perfect angle so he doesnt slide down the bed. It's comfortable, firm, light weight and perfect for the price. (worth trying!!) I wish we had found this 18 months ago, and saved us alot of sleepless nights with stacks of pillows.
**Dont ignore the reflux, or mask it with antacids.. it could be an early warning sign of Barretts, or even worse, Esophageal cancer!! One simple test (endoscopy) could save your life! |

1. Came in quickly, and in great condition - no problems with the shipping.
2. Have now used it 6 nights and haven't had any problems.
In fact, this has contributed the best nights sleep that I have ever had in over 10 years. My snoring was so bad that my spouse or myself had to sleep in another room to get any rest. Now my snoring is very faint and limited in length, not house rattling. It took a couple of nights to get used to it, I just love it. |
Wedge Bed Pillow Improves Sleep Quality

This product is amazing! I bought this item for my boyfriend to help alleviate his snoring. He has since been able to sleep through the night and feel fully rested in the morning for the first time in years! He constantly comments that it is one of the best gifts he has ever received and I feel the same way now that I am able to sleep through the night next to him!
After watching his frustration with other snore aid products, I bought this item and hoped it would help a bit. This product works better than any other more invasive remedy.
The 12X24X24 pillow is firm and keeps the user in a more upright position, lessening snoring. It can be rotated the other way to use as a leg rest too.
The product is a great value for the price compared to what the cost of surgery or any other more invasive remedy would cost.
The only negative is that I cannot find other color pillow covers.
I highly recommend this product. |

My allergy symptoms have improved greatly. I sleep much better. My husband says I do not snore anymore :) If you want this for sleeping you might want to try the 7" or 10". |

I tried a bedrest (husband), a tray table, differnt arrangements of pillows. At last eureka! The 12 inch bed wedge is just the right angle and firmness. I'd be bedsurfing all day now if that pesky job didn't get in the way. |

| Very firm, high quality foam that holds my husband at a comfortable incline. He is able to roll from side to side, even with his breathing aparatus. As an ALS patient, the respiratory therapist recommended sleeping on an incline which has, indeed, improved his sleep. He also adds his favorite pillow on top. I plan to order one for myself, as it is great for reading or sitting up in bed when turned upright! This wedge pillow has fully met our needs. I would like to have access to another pillowcase-type cover that can be removed easily for washing. The zipper cover that comes with it fits tighly over the foam and really should be covered with something else to keep it clean. |

I ordered this product for my elderly mom to help w/acid reflux & COPD. Whereas she was uncomfortable propping herself up on several pillows to rest or sleep, this wonderful wedge was instantly comfortable and can easily be carried from bed to couch or put in the car for a night away. This is certainly more flexible than raising the head of the bed w/cinder blocks or phone books as the doctor had suggested!
She hasn't even tried it for sitting up or elevating legs, but those are options, too.
The only slight challenge is getting the pillow case on & off for washing, but it's not that bad. We'd like to get another cover.

| I needed a pillow to sleep on at our son's house as I have acid reflux and lately the meds have not been working too well. So the doctor suggested a wedge type pillow. We purchased one through Amazon and had it sent to our son's house so it'd be there when my husband and I arrived. Well, I had good nights sleep with it and felt rested and not in pain from heartburn in the morning. It was so good that I ordered another one for our own home for me to sleep on. I have a smaller wedge one (7" not 12") and it wasn't as good. I would recommend it highly to anyone who suffers from acid reflux. Edie N. |

| I ordered this pillow because I was having nasal surgery, polyps removed and a deviated septum fixed. The pillow was wide enough so your whole upper body comfortably fit and there was no sliding off. It came with a removable cover you can wash, which was important since I had some bleeding! The pillow can also be used to relieve tired legs or swollen ankles and to watch tv sitting up in bed, which my husband liked instead of piling a bunch of pillows behind his head. |

Continues to save my marriage!
|
| Review Date: September 5, 2008 |
| Reviewer: C. Pilot, Florida, USA |
This wedge continues to save my marriage, as it has all but completely stopped me from snoring. I've tried nasal strips, throat sprays, etc., and none of them worked. Elevating my upper body when I sleep (like this wedge does) has reduced my snoring by about 98%. The 2% of the time that I do continue to snore, it's usually because I've slid down on the wedge so I'm sleeping horizontally again. I actually use a contour pillow in conjuction with this wedge.
I also purchased a foot wedge, but do not use it as much. Both of these products also helped with some back problems I was having. I get the best nights sleep using these, and that's saying a lot when you have a nagging back problem.
This one is rather large and bulky, which is good for me because I'm a big person, but for anyone normal sized or small, you could easily use a narrower one. I've even taken mine on vacation (driving -- not flying or cruising/sailing), but I'm currently on the look out for a nice, inflatable model so that I can more easily stow it. This one does work okay if you use one of those storage shrinking bags (where you suck the air out of the bag). The wedge springs right back into shape when you open the storage bag.
I highly recommend this product. |

The pain became intolerable and was exacerbated from sleeping on my stomach (my position of comfort) and cranking my head to the left or right... Sleeping on my back was impossible til I got the Bed Wedge. Now a few weeks later and a little discipline, it is a pleasure to wake up pain free and well rested... I still have rollovers in the night, but I recover... What a simple solution for a ridiculous problem! |

| The bed wedge was perfect for my husband while recovering from a badly broken arm. He had to sleep in a recliner in the living room until we thought to search for a wedge on Amazon. | The product came in sooner then I expected with normal delivery and the pillow itself now has a dual purpose. It helps with the acid reflux plus when sleeping and is great for watching TV. Had to place the pillow between box spring and matress because it was a bit to high and too hard but works great under the matress to sleep. For TV I put it on the matress. Exactly what I was looking for. I suggest you wash the pillow case as soon as you get it otherwise the smell is reaaly bad, probably from being closed up. The smell of the pillow goes away in a few days so don't panic. |

The shipment was good, the pillows are high quality. 12 inches is a little high for us, but the foam is easily marked and cut down. Mine is now at 8 inchs tall & I love it. At 8 inches tall one can still sleep easily on one's side too. My husband is still working on a height that works for him.
Would gladly order something else from this company. |
12 inch vs 7 inch height - I bought and like both

| When I bought the first wedge pillow, my acid reflux was eating away my esophagus, so I chose the 12 inch, for maximum incline. It took only a little while to get used to sleeping "upright", but the pillow did the trick and I healed. Although sitting upright is great for reading in bed and watching TV, now I really wanted a more prone position for sleep, so just bought the 7 inch pillow. I'm already sleeping deeper and longer and really love it. I am experiencing no nighttime acid reflux from the more comfortable position, either. Both pillows will remain on my bed. |
Wedge Works
|
| Review Date: December 13, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Scipio, Chicagoland, USA |
For reading, watching TV, using a computer, etc. in bed, I've found wedge pillows work best for me . I've had several over the years and this one is definitely the best yet. I'm 6'2" and the dimensions are just about perfect for my purposes. It works very well with just one (regular) pillow propping up my head. It is stiff, strong and surprisingly light. While I haven't had it very long, it seems to be made to last.
I don't know if I'd recommend this for people with GERD, however. As mentioned, it is pretty stiff. That, together with the 12" height, would make it difficult for me to sleep on. Having had GERD for years myself, I tend to think sufferers would be more satisfied with a wedge around half this height for sleeping purposes.
Not to play doctor, but if you need a wedge this high, it would seem that you must have one hellacious case of GERD. If you haven't done so already, you should definitely look into the PPI class of drugs available by prescription and over-the-counter. These have worked very well for me. I currently use Nexium and have no symptoms with no side effects whatsoever (that I know of). Truly a wonder drug for me.
Another use for this pillow (that I wouldn't recommend for GERD victims) is to prop up your knees in order to straighten and relax your back (long side down). (Back pain has proven harder to cure for me, but doing a lot of sit-ups helps considerably.)
Anyway, in all the applications for which I've used this pillow, it has worked very well. I'll also note that it's currently around one-third the cost of some similar products. |

This bed wedge (not this brand) was prescribed by a doctor at Mayo Clinic. I had radiation treatments for throat cancer which destroyed my epiglotus and allows food particles to enter my lungs, causing frequent infections. By sleeping with my upper body elevated, the problem has been greatly alleviated. I thought the wedge would be uncomfortable, but as with the Goldilocke scenario, it's not too soft and not too hard and I sleep better than I did lying flat. I also use it constantly during the day to sit in bed and read or watch TV, using a couple of pillows for extra support. Good quality product. |

The pillow is perfect for what is supposed to do. The only thing I would suggest is to offer it in shorter lengths.
We use it on a twin bed and when it is placed against the headboard, it practically pushes you off the end of the bed if you are using the lower incline. Other than that it seems durable and is performing the way we want it to. |

I fell off a bicyle and fractured my ankle in 6 places. Even though I am on the mend, I was having trouble with my ankle, foot and toes swelling. The physical therapist indicated I needed to get my foot above my heart whenever possible.
This wedge pillow is great for what I needed it for. It is firm and stable (stacked pillows squashed down or kept shifting), and is the perfect height for keeping my lower leg elevated. The only complaint I have is that the cover is kind of "scratchy" and I have sensitive skin. I put a sheet over the entire wedge pillow and it is now more comfortable.
The pillow arrived lightning fast -- within 2-3 days of placing my order -- evidently it was shipped from a local supplier, which was OK by me!
I would highly recommend this pillow to anyone who needs to elevate a lower limb to alleviate swelling. |

| Love this pillow. Have had it for 5 months now and has maintained it's shape and support. Replaces a stack of 5 I used to use to sit up in bed. Doesn't fall into crack between mattress and bed like regular pillows do. Now I often wake up in same position I fell asleep in. Perfect transition angle from mattress to support height. Feels very good on my back. |

I'm an advertising copywriter, and I'm attracted to products I'd enjoy writing about. Being interested in integrative medicine (alternative + mainstream), I prefer natural, non-pharmaceutical remedies for common ailments wherever possible.
Learning that raising one's headboard (w/bricks) helps hiatal hernias and acid reflux, I moved things up a notch by buying the Duro-Med Foam Bed Wedge (two, in fact). It effortlessly elevates my upper torso, and allows me to avoid the expense of antacid pills, as well as numerous side-effects. Not only do I recommend the bed wedge, I'd gladly write advertising for your company if you ever needed it.

Wedge Pillow

| Review Date: February 15, 2007 |
| Reviewer: J. N., Honolulu, HI |
I bought this pillow because I am pregnant and need to sleep on an incline to get comfortable. I sleep a lot better with it, but because the incline is so steep, I often slide down the pillow as the night progresses, and I wake up with my head near the bottom of the pillow. I would have preferred one that had more grip or ridges, to prevent me from sliding. I do like the level of incline I am in, and plan to continue to use the pillow post-pregnancy.
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase, and would buy it again! The pillow is surprisingly firm, which is great for my back. |

| Good value for the money. I have GERD and I bought two of these in different sizes for those nights when I just can't lie flat in bed. The foam is a bit firm and my back hurts if I try to lie on my side, but for lying on my back it is helpful...too bad it isn't that memory foam or tempurpedic foam. That would, I think, make it even better for those of us who have multiple health issues such as back problems as well as digestive issues. Still, I am happy with the purchase. |
Pillow Wedge

| Review Date: June 15, 2008 |
| Reviewer: Karen Watson, Round Rock, Tx United States |
| I received this wedge a couple of weeks ago. I use it for watching tv while in bed. I have a bad disc in my neck which makes it impossible for me to sleep/rest with a pillow. I have wanted something upon which I can rest for tv watching at bedtime. This wedge is very, very firm which is good for my disc (I used a very soft feather pillow -- almost flat-- on top of the wedge to give very gentle support to the disc). This works just fine for my purpose. I would not be able to sleep on this wedge as it rises too high for me and I do slide down. I plan to get another one later that is not so high to try for sleeping all night. Sometimes, I place this wedge between the box springs and the mattress to get the height and support I need for watching tv and I don't slide down it. However, I still cannot sleep on this steep of an incline. I will look for a 6 or 8 inch wedge for trying to sleep. |

| Reviewer: J. A. Edwards, Los Angeles, CA USA |
This product is clearly over-priced for what it is (a triangular piece of foam) but I was glad to finally just find something, ANYTHING, that helped with my night time gastric reflux problems. I've been using it for about 2 weeks now, including which time I have had & recovered from a cold, and this pillow has been VERY useful. In the past I have tried to stack my own pillows to make a wedge/pile but the results were mediocre at best. Unlike some other customer reviews of this product, I do NOT find this pillow to be too hard; it is just about the perfect firmness in my opinion. I have also recently discovered that, perhaps counter to one's initial intuition, it works better alone than with another regular pillow set atop it. I do find that I slide down off of the pillow during the night but, hey, the product didn't promise anything about providing an anti-gravity field.
Note that these pillows come with two heights, a 7" and a 12"; this is not obvious IMHO from the product description. The height is the first number listed in the dimensions. I got the 12" lift height and am glad I did.
After just 2 weeks I don't yet have much of a feeling for durability; I know some reviews claim that the pillow flattened out after a while. We'll see, but so far I am very pleased. |

| I ordered this bed wedge for my fiance because she just had back surgery and needed the extra support when lying down. It seemed to work great for her. I read the other reviews of people saying that it's "too hard" but she liked it. If the foam were any softer the wedge wouldn't retain it's shape with your weight on it. |

I ordered the bed wedge because I was getting surgery on my nose and needed to sleep elevated for a few weeks after the procedure. The wedge does the trick and it sure beats sleeping on pillows!
I agonized over whether to buy the tall wedge (this one) or a shorter one, and went for the height in the end. I only slipped off of it one night. wearing full PJs helps prevent this. More friction.
I find the wedge most comfortable with two soft pillows on it: one for my lower back and the other to sit under my neck and support my head rolling to either side.
I sleep fine on the wedge, but now that I'm through my recovery, I'm back to sleeping flat. I'll save the wedge for nights when my hiatal hernea is bothering me. |

It is firm and supports the weight of my upper torso very well. |
My Bed Wedge

| Reviewer: J. Tiu, |
I bought my wedge several weeks ago and was pretty pleased with delivery and packaging. It did have a slight "foam/synthetic" smell to it, but it really wasn't anything that lasted. I'm still getting used to it, however, sleeping on an incline sort of helps my reflux situation, but I'm sliding down the pillow during the night.
I wake up and I'm all the way down (I'm only 4'10", so there's room at the foot of the bed) except for my head. My doctor-brother-in-law claims that his patients complain about this, too, and the only way they've solved this problem is to use velcro on the pillow and on a sleeping t-shirt. I haven't done this...yet. |

| I had one of these many years ago that over time (20+ years) just fell apart and had been searching for a replacement. I found a few places on-line where I could order a custom made wedge for roughly 2 to 3 times the cost of this item - more than I thought it was worth. I was pleased to find this item on Amazon at a much more reasonable price. The foam is a bit stiffer than the previous one that I had, but after 1-2 days it was not a problem. It was well packaged - wrapped in a plastic bag inside of the shipping box - so no chance to get wet as some others had complained. I highly recommend. |

I purchased this for my father who is receiving hospice care. The foam is functional and reasonably priced so that we could afford to purchase without thinking twice about it. The washable cover comes with it. It is light and easy to store and quick to slip behind the shoulders and head for eating or drinking, taking pills and visiting.
The foam is firm so it is stable and supportive an additional bed pillow can be slipped between the user to soften if needed.
Could also be helpful while using a laptop during convalescence.

The one that arrived to me was stained, and smelled. So, I have left it in the plastic zippered container. This way I don't have to smell it. Then I put it in the washable blue cloth. It is too hard, so I place 2 small pillows over the wedge. With this set-up, the wedge works very well.
I sleep with the wedge, and it helps with GERD. I have had it for a month, and find it works fine. The blue cover is not very high quality. It still works, but I don't think it will for more than a few more months. As compared to no wedge, this works great. I haven't used another wedge like this before, but I would guess that other wedges could likely be much better. However, with the pillows covering the top, it works fine for my needs. |

I have slept on 2 regular pillows for some time and thought this would be a better solution to my sinus and acid reflux problems. I didn't realize that 12" would be too high and I kept sliding down during the night. Be sure you choose wisely, as this seller does NOT allow refunds on pillows. I was not made aware of this anytime during the buying process. The 7" height would have probably been better for me. I tried a number of times to contact the seller but did not get any response! I thought they might be able to do an exchange.

| Tried bed wedge for the first time, no prior experience with it. Takes getting used to, do not expect miracle results the first night. It is very firm, not soft. You may or may not feel comfortable adding a pillow. To read in bed, you will need one. Also, hard to turn over and sleep on your side, another aspect that takes getting used to. |
Good, but not for everyone

I bought this pillow because I've had acid reflux lately and read that sleeping on an incline should help. The pillow itself is fine, I never bought a pillow case for it (just covered it with an extra blanket) and it seems to work well when you initially sleep on it. The incline is just enough to keep the upper half of your body elevated. However, every time I use this product, by morning, I always end up near the bottom of the wedge, and it's mostly just my head that's elevated (which kind of defeats the purpose of the pillow). So, if you tend to be a person who moves around in your sleep a lot, this product might not be for you because it won't help you through the night. But if you're a person who generally doesn't move too much when you sleep, then this might be perfect for you.
Other pluses of this product: it does serve a pretty good back support if you're just reading in bed, and you can flip it vertically to rest against a wall (this isn't super comfortable, but it's all right).
In the end, it's a matter of personal preference and sleeping patterns. You can sleep with another pillow (I use a tempur-pedic one) on top of the pillow (I think it makes it a lot more comfortable). I wouldn't recommend sleeping on it without another pillow though. |

| I purchased this wedge pillow for my acid reflux, and while it works good, it has a strong odor to it. As soon as I took off the plastic covering the very strong chemical smell hit me and I realized this would not do unless I was able to mask it. So I have two large cotton towels covering it and it seems to work somewhat better.. This may not be a problem with some people but I am very sensitive to strong odors.. |

This wedge pillow is good for watching tv, or to just sit when you're in bed. But I don't recommend this pillow if you want to sleep with it. It's not very soft, and you can't adjust the height level. However, in my case I do need to use this wedge pillow because I have severe allergies and asthma at night, so it helps not to clog my nose. But it's kinda uncomfortable if you need to switch sides, and I usually wake up at night because of that. It's more comfortable if you sleep with stomach side up, though.
But again, I do need to use some kind of elevated pillow and that's why I'm using this one, instead of using to regular pillows which gave me a real neck pain a couple of times... I just wish this pillow was softer, and it'd be perfect if I could adjust the height. But overall, it's a 3 star for not giving me neck pain, and unclogging my nose at night. |

I also found this wedge far too hard to sleep on.
However, I did try it with the plastic cover on, so I was able to return it. I read the other negative reviews and knew that the wedge might not work, but I couldn't find anything similar in stores and I really wanted to give it a try.
Thank you to the other reviewers who warned me not to take the plastic cover off until I was sure I was going to keep it. I'll pass on the same advice --
TRY IT WITH THE PLASTIC COVER STILL ON so you can return it if you don't like it.
Also, check how much your return shipping costs will be before you buy. I tried to mail it at the US post office and the shipping was more than I paid for the item (because of the huge size of the box)! Amazon's return shipping from UPS was much more affordable.
I got it shipped to me using free "Super Saver" shipping and then it only cost around six dollars to return it using Amazon's UPS return label (printed off Amazon.com). I think it was worth spending that much money to give it a try. It might also be worth it to you to spend some money to test it out since a lot of people seem very happy with it. But, find out ahead of time what you are getting yourself into. |

| If you're looking for something soft and comfortable, this is not the product. (Maybe the memory foam wedges would be softer???) The foam is so hard that I had to put another pillow over it to make it comfortable enough to sleep on. And I kept slipping down and would wake up half off the wedge and off kilter. My breathing issues have improved, so now I've moved the wedge to the living room sofa. I still pile it with pillows to make it comfortable! |

| The pillow is just a big piece of foam. That's not so bad, but the covers don't seem to fit very well. The one that came with the pillow split a seam in the first week. We purchased two replacement covers and destroyed the flimsy plastic zippers on both of them trying to get them on. The covers are a VERY tight fit. If you intend to take them on and off to launder them with any frequency - you might want to look elsewhere. |

| I recently purchased this wedge after my doctor informed me that I have advanced reflux and changes in the lining of my esophagus. He encouraged me to either lift the legs of the head of my bed on bricks, etc., or to purchase a wedge. I thought the wedge would be a better solution, so I went on-line to research wedges. I chose this wedge due to the multiple positive reviews, but I simply can't believe that people can sleep on it. The package arrived very quickly, and I tried it out the first night it arrived. I found the angle of the wedge to be too high. Throughout the night I slid down the wedge, and there is no give to it so I woke up multiple times throughout the night. I found it impossible to lie on my side as well. Research shows that only a six inch rise is necessary to relieve reflux symptoms, so my advice would be to purchase one that is only six inches in height. Also, this is not a returnable item. Something which was never brought to my attention, so consider yourself warned. |

| I didn't like this product, the pillow is extremely unconfortable, and can damage your back. I called and they have horrible customer service, impossible to return, because the shipment will cost more than the piece of foam itself, because of volume. This is the first time that Im not happy with a purchase through Amazon, I'll continue using Amazon and its credit card, but certainly ill never buy anything from this seller. |

| Product arrived in damp box, smelled musty, damp, and nasty. Opened box and pillow's plastic since I thought pillow would have been protected. No Such luck. And supposedly I can't return it once I have removed the plastic wrapping since it's a "health care" product. Of course, I didn't expect to be shipped a damaged item. Trying to return it for refund anyway. Highly recommend avoiding ordering pillows or such online-not returnable and you can't tell what you are getting! I just searched the item info and still can't locate the return policy stated anywhere on the page for the item....awful! |
