crest white strips - really works!

| Reviewer: J. Lee, |
I was really surprised as I entered my neighborhood bar when my buddy called out, "dude, did you whiten your teeth?! they're freaking glowing!" that pretty much sums up how effective the strips are - and I was only on day 3!
To be objective, my teeth hurt a little when I first put them on, the type of slight pain you feel when you have cavities. I guess this is what they mean by your teeth becoming sensitive. But the pain isn't bad, and it went away after a few minutes. And also, I didn't notice a HUGE difference myself, but there definitely was a change for the better. And I guess to an outside observer, the change was noticeable.
In short, I think this stuff is awesome. I'll definitely finish it, and probably do it again at the recommended time. |

I used this product at the suggestion of my dental hygienist prior to having some dental veneers replaced. I read the reviews and I had some misgivings about using an over-the-counter product but it was fine.
The Results: I am pleased with the results. The strips lightened my teeth noticably. I do not have "chiclet" teeth, that blue white luminous shade that, frankly, looks artificial but my teeth are cleaner and whiter than before. I had my new veneers prepped today and the dentist commented that I had lightened my teeth, that they looked very nice and that the product worked well for me.
The Process: I found the product fairly easy to use after a couple of applications. There is a technique but it was easy enough to get the hang of it. The gel adhered well to the surface of the tooth and I always had a lot of gel left on my teeth when I removed the strip. From about day three to six, I found my gums and teeth a bit sensitive but I persisted and the sensation went away by the end of the ten days. I found that my lips dried out while I used the strips and it helped to apply lip balm before and after using the strips.
Some Tips: Wash your hands when you finish applying the strips so that you don't get white patches on your fingers. Rinse your mouth when you finish to reduce gum sensitivity. Find a couple of times during the day when you have enough time to concentrate on how you apply the strips. It's a small thing but I think it makes a difference to apply them well. As I said, you may want to apply something to your lips to keep them from drying out. You can anticipate some sensitivity. It was not a huge issue for me but I can see it might be for some.
The directions say that Crest Strips will not lighten dental work. It actually did lighten my old veneers a bit. However, if you have veneers that you are not planning to replace, you might not like the two-toned effect you get. So if you have cosmetic dental work, I'd suggest you ask your dentist before you try this product. |
Highly Recommend These!

These strips have done wonders for my smile. In only 4 days my teeth were amazingly white, so I quit. I'm saving the rest to touch up in 6 months.
Since I can effectively get 2 full treatments from one box I think these are an amazing value. There is really no need to get trays or Bright Smile unless you want it done faster, and want a freakishly unnatural whiteness about your teeth....almost blue looking. ;-) |

| I could'nt make it through the whole pack yet because my teeth were sensitive to begin with, but they have whitened my teeth considerably. I used to be very self conscious about my teeth and now I can smile with confidence because of my white teeth. I have like 4 more worth of strips to go as well. They did make my teeth sensitive but it only lasts like a day so if your experiencing the same problem take a day off and use them like every other day. Overall it was a worthwhile investment for me and i'm very happy with the results. |

They are so thin, I barely know that they are on (Besides all the extra saliva in my mouth). They kind of make my gums burn but that is all.. If u want really white teeth, then get this product!!!! |

| I was a little worried when I first started using these whitestrips because of the reviews I read about them being painful. I have very sensitive teeth to begin with and really did not experience any severe pain. They do make your teeth slightly sensitive, but not bad (at least for me). They did make my gums sting a little when I first put them on, but again, no big deal. I saw a big difference in the color of my teeth and highly recommend them. They didn't make my teeth glowing white, but very close. I will probably do another round here in a few months. |

| I've been using Whitestrips for almost six years and I swear dearly by them. People are always complimenting me on how white my teeth are, and it's all thanks to the Whitestrips I use once a year. It says it lasts up to 18 months, but I find better results in doing this exactly every 12 months. I can't recommend these enough. |

| At 51, I no longer liked to smile because of the embarrassment of showing my yellow teeth. Crest Whitestrips gave me white teeth and I was no longer embarrassed to smile. They didn't make my teeth movie star white, but they took away the yellow. A year later, now at 52, my teeth still aren't yellow and I am using them again; this time the 10-day instead of the 7-day. Already, I am seeing even whiter teeth. |

| I have been using these for five days now and I have noticed an incredible difference!! I was getting to a point of embarrassment when smiling, my teeth had yellowed a lot over the years, and they were never really white to begin with. Now when I smile, I notice my teeth are much brighter and whiter! I also bought some Sensodyne ProNamel toothpaste and brush for one minute after removing the strips and my teeth have had very little sensitivity! I would recommend this product! |

I had my braces removed a few months ago and was about to get some veneers on my lateral incisors. My teeth were already fairly white but he said I should whiten them even more since veneers stain far slower and then I could opt for the whitest veneers. He said I could either get in house bleaching which would be about 200-300 bucks or go with the Crest premium plus (now pro effects) for 30 bucks.
I bought the package and wore them everyday in the morning after I ate. I would brush my teeth a little beforehand, put them on, and brush AFTER. Did this for 10 days, twice a day and it really did make my teeth whiter. I was able to get the whitest shade veneer and my teeth look great. It's been about a year now and I can actually see faint shade difference between my veneers and the rest of my front teeth. Might be time to do another round.

| I used the Pro-Effects strips a couple of years ago and am now buying a new box to whiten my teeth again. They made a big difference with my teeth, which I'd not been able to achieve with other whitening products I'd tried. I found that I did have sensitivity and started taking a Tylenol or two about half an hour before whitening, like you do when taking kids for shots. This really helped!! In addition, I always use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth. The combination helped A LOT!! I recommend the Pro-Effects strips because they have the most peroxide you can get without a dentist and they get the job done. |

I've always wanted whiter teeth like when I was a child. I actually tried the Crest Whitestrips years ago when they first came out and had no results. A couple weeks ago I was just browsing Amazon and came across these. I decided to take a chance on them since they are the "Premium Plus" ones.
I must say that these actually work. I'm am satisfied with the results that I've gotten. My teeth aren't super white by any means, but they have gotten at least 2-3 shades whiter. As for the reviews saying that this product makes your teeth sensitive, that hasn't happened to me in my complete 10 days of use.
I would definitely recommend this product for those looking to get a whiter smile. |

I was very unsure about buying these, because I felt like the whole idea was just too simple. They worked wonders though.
My two front teeth have always been very white, whereas all the teeth on the sides were quite stained. Just the fact that my two front teeth were whiter made the stains so much more noticeable.
So, I bought theses and cut the strips so that I could use them on my side teeth only, and it only took around five days for the teeth on the side to match my front teeth. It was very, very easy, and gave such great results.
Be warned though, this product does make your teeth very sensitive and it can be painful. It says on the box that you can do both half hour sessions back to back, but I think it's better to give your teeth a bit of a break. If you haven't noticed though, I still put five stars. I just think that the bit of sensitivity you'll have to endure is so worth the results.

| This is a follow up review because I've reviewed them before based on using Whitestrips in the past. Let me tell you, these new 10 day dental whitening strips are pretty amazing for their price. It has been about a week since I got them and already my teeth look so much whiter. I've noticed a little improvement in the first 3 days like everyone said, but now that I am nearing the end of the cycle, they look so much better than what I first started. At only 22.00 with free shipping if you spend 3.00 more, these are definately worth picking up if your teeth are yellow. |

refers to the fact that it will last 6 months longer than the original, and you're only paying for four extra days of strips.
When if you only got the original, two boxes is what you'd need for it to last as long as "plus" does, and it would cost you 50 dollars as opposed to 34. |

My teeth started to turn white within the 3rd day of using the strips.

The pain is incredible bad.. I have sensitive teeth.
The pain last all day, so eat slowly and try not to eat hot or cold stuff..
Try eating at room temperature if possible. |

A Dentist Reviews This Product
|
| Review Date: July 21, 2007 |
| Reviewer: James Koenig, Minnesota |
I am a dentist who recommends Crest-brand White Strips to my patients becasue they do work to whiten teeth. However, they have to be used correctly and I recommend that you follow the directions exactly as specified inside the box.
1. First brush your teeth with a wet toothbrush to remove the layer of plaque (toothpaste is unnecessary). Rinse your teeth well with water. Tooth enamel has pores, and the pores need to be open for the chemical to penetrate.
2. Use the strips as directed on the box. The instructions will tell you to bleach twice a day for 30-minutes a time. The inner part of the strip has a chemical called hydrogen peroxide; (in-office, or dentist-assisted dental whitening uses a 15-35% version of the same chemical) that causes the stains inside your teeth to be oxidized and turn white. Applying the strips has a small learning curve as you will probably bend or fold a couple of them before you get the technique down.
2. Leave the strips on for the time recommended in the instructions and do not overbleach your teeth, as this leads to sensitivity.
Disadvantages
1. Hydrogen Peroxide can "burn" your gums. If you notice a burning sensation when you use the product, it is the chemical oxidizing (or burning) your gums (it will turn them white with a minor chemical burn). Depending on how severe the burning is, it may cause you to want to stop the treatment. It is OK to stop the treatment for a day or two to let the gums heal. Once they are healed, resume treatment with the White Strips. Try to not get the strip on your gums.
2. Your teeth may become senstiive during the week treatment time. Try to tolerate the sensitivity if it is mild, but if more severe, take a day or two off to let the teeth settle down and then pick up where you left off. You may notice much more sensitivity to cold water, ice cream, etc. The peroxide causes an inflamation of the inner pulp, or nerve center of the tooth and makes the teeth very sensitive to biting or cold drinks or foods. If your teeth become too sensitive, back off on the strips until the sensitivity is gone before resuming bleaching.
3. The strips only cover your front teeth, so only your front teeth will bleach. You may notice the distinct difference between the back (unbleached) teeth and the front (bleached) teeth. Since most people notice the front 6 teeth anyway, this is not a big deal. However, if you have a wide toothy smile, you may want to have a dentist make you a tray that will hold the chemical on the back teeth to whiten them too.
4. The bleaching effect works best on yellow stains. If your stains are due to tetracycline (brownish grey stains in a band on your teeth, your best bet is to have a dentist whiten your teeth as the dentist will use a tray to hold a more concentrated form of the chemical on your teeth for a longer period of time.
Now comes the confusing part: Crest White Strips come in 4 different packages, each a bit different than the others. The main difference is in the strength of the hydrogen peroxide, and the price. The higher the dose of hydrogen peroxide, the most costly the product package. Here are the 4 packages: 1. Crest White Strips Classic (6% hydrogen peroxide, 14-day treatment). 2. Crest White Strips Premium (10% hydrogen peroxide, 7-day treatment). 3. Crest White Strips Premium Plus (10% hydrogen peroxide, and has 12 additional strips). 4. Crest White Strips Renewal (9.5% hydrogen peroxide). The cheapest method (at around 25 dollars, is the Crest Classic Whitestrips, but it takes 2 weeks to complete the treatment). Premium and Premium Pro are both 10% peroxide formulations, work in 7-10 days, and the "Premuim-Plus" gives you 12 additional strips. I am not sure why Crest recently came out with "Renewal", as it is a 9.5% hydrogen peroxide formulation which is not significantly different from the 10% concentration. Leave it to the manufacturer to confuse the consumer!
Crest White Strips work for the vast majority of people. Younger people with yellow stains seem to respond better than older people or those with gray stains. White Strips don't work as fast as a dentist-made custom tray bleaching, (or in-office bleaching) but over time, you will get a result that will be close to that of a dentist, and you will save money too.
I recommend starting with with either the Classic or the Premium-Pro. The Classic works in 2 weeks and is about $1.80 a day. The Premium Pro works in 10 days and is about $2 dollars a day. The Premium and Premium Pro are likely to give you more sensitivity than the Classic. Be sure and check out the price of each kit, as they vary from store to store. Obviously, get the cheapest kit that supplies the same amount of strips.
If you are not satisfied with the results and still want whiter teeth, you can then see your dentist for a more concentrated form of bleaching using a custom-tray system or in-office bleaching. This is much more expensive, but the concentration of hydrogen peroxide is much higher and this works better on stubbornly-stained teeth.

What the Plus Really Means--18 months vs 12 months
|
| Review Date: January 5, 2007 |
| Reviewer: N. Smith, East Bay, CA USA |
| Several people complained that they thought getting 3 extra strips for the extra $$ was pointless, or led them to give this product fewer stars. In actuality, the PLUS is because this product whitens your teeth up to 18 months, while the standard Premium product is only efective for 12 months. This is also why you use this one for 10 days rather than 7. You actually are getting 50% longer effectiveness for about 20% extra money. To me, that makes a lot of sense! |
Decent Whitener

| I have been using these off and on for almost a year. Through perodic use, I have been able to keep my teeth fairly white. The down side is the discomfort after several consecutive uses. My gums have gotten burned by the hydrogen peroxide more than once. I recommend to anyone who wishes to use this whitener to use it every other day. Before I apply the whitening strips, I brush and floss thoroughly. The number one thing to do to maintain white teeth after you have used this product is to brush and floss daily(something everyone should do, but I know the majority of people do not). |

| I've always had really bad yellow teeth (almost brown) and then I tried the original whitestrips and a bunch of other kinds of things....which didn't work too well (there was only a bit of improvement). But then I tried these....and BAM! 2 days now, and my teeth are almost completely white. If you can handle the side effects these are good. They're hard to keep on your teeth, in some cases it may be exteremly painful (like getting your teeth drilled) but I only had that happen with one tooth and these things make you drool like crazy!!!!! If you can handle that, these things will turn even the most disgusting looking teeth white. |

I like a couple of things about this product:
1. It really does whiten.
2. It's very convenient (stick 'em on, go about your business)
3. 1 hour a day is pretty good for how well it whitened
Overall, I am glad I bought the product. It whitened, which is what it advertises, and I hardly felt any sensitivity. My only complaint was that after you took the slips off, there was this very goopy stuff (the gel, I know) on the backs of my teeth and I wasn't sure if I should spit it out, or leave it on. I would've preferred more in-depth instructions, also, but then again I tend to read instruction booklets word for word. |

| Since I drink a lot of tea (hot and iced), my teeth were discolored. I had used Crest Whitestrips about 2 years ago, and they worked well. I thought I would try Whitestrips Premium Plus for a few more bucks. They did work really well, my teeth are whiter after using them. I agree with the reviewers that complain about how small the strips are, and the tendency of the lower strip, especially, to become dislodged by excess saliva. I found myself constantly in the mirror, rearranging the lower strip. The upper one rarely moved. I believe Crest needs to do some tweaking on that lower strip! But despite all the problems I had keeping the lower strip in place, my teeth look a lot better than before, so my goal was achieved! |

I had no pain really, maybe a little tiny bit after the second use, it wasn't burning, and was easy for me to forget I have these on my teeth. The only problem is it doesn't reach all my teeth 2 on the top left, and two on the bottom left are normal color an you can see how much they have helped me out. I love the white smile! Good buy for a product that will make you look like you are worth more! |

The tooth sensitivity is not so hot, but it does lessen. I am on day 3 and it was not as bad today as day 1. The only thing that I recommend not doing is smiling big, then sucking air thru your teeth. Why would I do that? To see if they were still sensitive of course... Well, they are.
Other drawbacks:
Leaving them on for 30 minutes.
They kinda burn your tongue. (because of all the saliva you produce, which takes some of the peroxide onto your tongue)
Otherwise they are great. My mom actually just got a tray from her dentist. I have not noticed any difference in hers (maybe she's not using it?) but she actually asked me if I was doing mine too. Whoo-hoo! Saved all that $$$ at the dentist and getting good results!

Neither do these whitestrips don't damage your gums like others, nor do they dissolve and leave you with a bad taste and less whitening effect. As long as you follow instructions they should work just fine. By the end of the 10 days there was quite a noticeable difference (and I'm a smoker).
The battle is if you smoke and drink coffee and/or tea. In this case, I suggest buying strips you use over a month-long period. This way you have the continuous whitening - fighting the battle.
Make the purchase! |

| I'm pleased with the whitening from this product. I own whitening trays, but wanted to try this product and avoid a trip to the dentist to buy their gel. While trays work a bit faster since the gel can conform to each tooth (and I think the peroxide concentration is higher), Crest Whitestrips work well if you don't mind taking a little longer to get the result you want. With both trays and this product, I have to whiten every other day because I have extremely sensitive teeth. Again, no big deal if you aren't in a huge hurry to get a final result. I found that I can't do normal activity when I whiten, so I apply the strips, then lay in bed and watch TV or read. I lay back slightly so I can swallow saliva and not dislodge the strips. I only do one 30 minute treatment every other day, and it's working fine. Just use the strips according to your own comfort level and enjoy the whitening! |
Crest Whitestrips Work to Brighten Teeth

I am a dentist who recommends Crest White Strips to my patients because they do work to whiten teeth. However, they have to be used correctly and I recommend that you follow the directions exactly as specified inside the box.
1. Use the strips twice per day for maximum efectiveness as stated on the box. The inner part of the strip has a 10% concentration of hydrogen peroxide which causes the stains inside your teeth to be oxidized and turn white. Applying the strips has a small learning curve as you will probably bend or fold a couple of them before you get the technique down.
2. Leave the strips on for 30 minutes at a time. After thirty minutes the peroxide has absorbed into your tooth to the extent that it is no longer effective. You can reapply a new strip immediately if you chose, for the treatment requires one hour of treatment time per day to work. It does not matter if you do this in one continuous 60-minute period or two 30-minute periods. Do this for two weeks and your teeth will get whiter.
Disadvantages
1. The chemical can possibly "burn" your gums. If you notice a burning sensation when you use the product, it is the chemical oxidizing (or burning) your gums. Depending on how severe the burning is, it may cause you to want to stop the treatment. It is OK to stop the treatment for a day or two to let the gums heal. Once they are normal again (not white, red or irritated), resume treatment with the White Strips. The strip is designed so that a minimum amount of peroxide gets on your gums, but it still does happen.
2. Your teeth may become senstiive during the two-week treatment time. Try to tolerate the sensitivity if it is mild, but if more severe, take a day or two off to let the teeth settle down and then pick up where you left off. You may notice much more sensitivity to cold water, ice cream, etc. The peroxide causes a reversible inflamation of the inner pulp, or nerve center of the tooth and makes the teeth very sensitive to biting or cold drinks or foods.
3. The bleaching effect works best on yellow stains. If your stains are due to tetracycline (brownish grey stains in a band on your teeth, your best bet is to have a dentist whiten your teeth initially in two sessions, and then use Creast Whitestrips for thereafter.
Crest bleaching strips work for the vast majority of people. It is a good place to start with bleaching, and if you are not satisfied with the results, you can then see your dentist for a more concentrated form of bleaching.

| These little strips do what they promise to do. The main negative I have for these is the price. They come in an extremely sturdy plastic box (that can't really be re-used for anything else). Occasionally, a strip will come loose after it is applied and it becomes un-usable. I had minor irritation with these but it went away as I used them. Teeth definitely became whiter. I was also able to make a few extra "mini strips" from the ones for the lower teeth by cutting some excess from the strip and applying to other teeth. If these were about 5.00 less per box, I would rate them a 5. |

Very fast delivery. I thought the white stripes were great. I did experience some sensitivity after the fourth use. If you experience sensitivity take a break from using the product so your gums could heal. Make sure to follow instructions. A little hard to talk with.
I would recommend brushing your teeth and wiping your teeth before placing the stripes so they don't move.
I did notice my teeth were whiter. I wished the bottom stripes were longer.
I would use this again.

| Very satisfied with the whitening results. Noticed whiter teeth in just 3 apps. Unfortunately, I find the "strips" kind of a pain as they still slip. They stay on better than the original Crest Whitestrips, but still have a tendency to wander. Tooth sensitivity may be a problem for some, but just wait a day or two in between applications and you should be fine. |

| I have been using this product for the last few weeks. I don't have time to go exactly by direction since it directs one to use the strips twice a day and I can only find time for once on a weekday and twice on the weekend. People have been commenting on the lightening of my teeth. My only problem now is that there are slightly darker areas near my gums that aren't lightening as much as I would like, but they are lightening. As I haven't finished using all the strips yet, I expect that there is still time to make sure that the strips are situated correctly for my problem area. My advice is make sure that the strips are situated correctly when you place them on your teeth. I've heard that getting too near the gum may bleach the gum and cause soreness, but the problem is if you don't get the strip completely on your teeth (this can be done) then you may have problem spots as I do. ;\ |

Though these things certainly do what they advertise (the coffee stains on my teeth are nearly gone), they are not as convenient as advertised. As many will remember, the original advertisement for these strips showed them being used while the female character window-shopped, which showcased the easy-to-use nature of this product. Though I doubt no one attempted such a 'feat,' I don't think people realize the discomfort of using these.
As other reviewers have probably noted, the chemical used does sometimes burn gums; while it isn't terribly painful, it is somewhat annoying. Secondly, the strips don't always stay in place, so they sometimes require more attention than one would want to devote to such a process.
However, despite these few annoyances, this product does work well and I would certainly go through the hassle of it all to conceal the damning evidence my coffee addiction. |
Works very well. Not as good as a dental whitening.

If I was more picky (or a movie star!), this would not be adequate and I'd need to go to a dentist for that perfect white look. I don't know if you will find this adequate or not, but it's worth a shot. I did not have any side effects. |

| This product really works. I could see results with in 2 or 3 days. the only issue i have had with it is it makes my teeth incredibly sensitive. I have started only using it every other day and that seems to help. Also it says not to get this product on your gums and for the most part this is not a problem but when some does get on them it turns your gums white. It goes away and your gums go back to normal but its just a little weird. I am getting ready to try the 5min strips and i hope that those will not irritate my teeth as much as these. |

| The reason I purchased this product was the beautiful white smiles of two ladies in my Arthritis Aerobics class. After years of coffee and tea drinking, I definitely had a brownish cast to my teeth and deep browning on the tips of my teeth. I can't believe how much whiter and brighter my teeth are now. I am getting a kit for my husband. I did have some sensitivity so I would skip a day. After years of staining a day or two doesn't make much difference and the results are really good. |

| These work great! My teeth got much whiter with the first box. It made my teeth hurt on the second application but I noticed that it was only on the top of the bottom teeth so I cut the rest of them to only put across the front and not wrap them to the back. That's all people really see anyway. No problems after that. Don't brush before using because if you're too rough on your gums it will burn a bit and turn them white. They stayed in place pretty well. Wish it was a little easier to get in place where teeth meet since mine are slightly crooked on the bottom. |

| This product did what it said it did. My only problem was sensitivity... I had to take breaks for a day or so every couple of days because it became incredibly painful using the product twice a day. I had one instance where I was kept awake most of the night after using the product back to back in an hour (instead of two separate half hour sessions - which is says on the box is alright), but I would highly discourage against. Overall I would highly recommend this product, just be mindful of the possibility that it might take longer then you think it will due to unexpected sensitivity. My teeth are white! woohoo |

| I wasn't completely satisfied with Crest Whitestrips like I have been in the past. I'm not a heavy coffee or tea drinker and brush my teeth regularly, but I still whiten about every 6 mos. or so because I like my teeth white for picture-taking and interviewing. I have always used Crest Whitestrips Classic in the past and they have given me the desired results, but this product was different. I don't think it whitened my teeth as much as I had hoped and as much as the Classic strips have in the past. Not a bad price though, considering this product is upwards of $40 in most drug stores. |
Decent results but inconvenient to use

| Reviewer: Kitty, California, USA |
I first tried the Listerine strips. They are much more user-friendly in that they are easy to apply, stick well on the teeth, and dissolve in your mouth. They didn't whiten my teeth much though.
The Crest strips did a better job at whitening (see below) but I found them inconvenient to apply, wear and remove. The first day the strips were wasted because they just slipped around and wadded up in my mouth. I almost returned them but decided to try one more day.
In order to make them stick and stay in place, I had to rub back and forth with a lot of pressure on the strips against my teeth several times while applying them. Then I remained silent for the 30 minutes of wearing them, without moving my teeth at all and without swallowing.
If your teeth are crooked, the strips might still work if you press hard to apply them to teeth out of alignment.
I experienced no pain or sensitivity with these or with the Listerine brand.
I finished the 10 day regimen and my teeth are about 85% of what I had hoped, which is pretty good. I don't know how much using the Listerine strips before the Crest strips contributed to the overall results, or how much whiter they would have been had the first day of Crest strips stayed on my teeth instead of wadding up and being wasted.
I think everyone's mouth, gums and saliva are different and this accounts for the different experiences and degrees of success or failure of the product. It's worth giving these a try.

| I used this product as described (although once I did have to "catch up" on my days and had to do 3 "sessions" in one day instead of 2). I do believe that my teeth got whiter. I had the type of teeth that all the literature says should be helped the most by a product like this. I didn't get as much whitening as I hoped but I probably had unrealistically high expectations (my dentist had told me that I simply have darker pigmented teeth than the ideal). I would recommend this product and will probably try it again in the future. |

I've just finished the 10 day treatment. The solution works well. But the strips are very flimsly. (Thus the four star rating). They were difficult to place exactly on the theeth. And were proned to shift during the treatment time. I believe that I may not have gotten the maximum benefit of the treatment because of the difficulty of placing the strips.
I plan to use a whitening treatment annually. But the next time I will select a product that uses disposable whitening trays. |

But they did take a lot of yellow out and I suppose if I wanted to go back and do the kit again, I'd get closer what I was looking for. Anyway, if you're looking for a great basic whitening kit, I do suggest this. But don't expect professionally whitened teeth! |

| I have sensitive teeth and also a partial that contains a fake tooth so I was hesitant to try these. The first day, I felt a little tingling in my gum area but saw instant results so I decided to stick with it. By day 3, I figured out how to apply these better so that I no longer have the gum tingling and I'm loving the results. People have noticed and that's a great feeling. I still use my toothpaste for sensitive teeth so not sure if that is a factor, but the teeth sensitivity that people have talked about have never been a problem for me. I'm a huge coffee/soda drinker so I'm not sure how long the results last - the box says 18 months so I will have to come back and review that later. |

I keep hearing about these causing pain, I keep hearing about these causing burning, discomfort, stinging ect. Well, I have not had one ounce of pain or suffering using these! Maybe these are
not good for people with sensitive teeth (which I thought I had) but I have not had any pain. People have issues with these sliding all over the place, but since this is not a tray
I expected that, so I pretty much apply the strips and go somewhere and be still! Actually, I get on the internet for an hour or so and before I know it, it's time to take the stips
out! The whitening is pretty good, I am satisfied! Everybody has different sized teeth, various size mouths and differing sensitivity to pain, thus the wide-range of reviews on this
product. I would say this product is made for people with an average to small sized mouth, straighter teeth and little sensitivity. If you don't fall into this parameter, then there
are TONS of other products sold right here on Amazon that will fit your needs, but as far as these Crest Strips, they do what they say they are going to do. |

The only other thing I feel I need to add is that the instructions say it's okay to do it twice in one day. I did that, and was surprised the next day. I wouldn't say that my teeth were "sensitive" as the box warned, but I felt like my teeth were actually sore. Not a big deal though. Now I just do one a day and take it easy. |

I have a silver crown at the bottom jaw, and this whitestrip went over the gum under the silver crown. Of course, it did not whiten the silver crown (not my intentional anyways) but the gum became VERY sensitive, and I ended up getting gum soreness and bleeding. I'm going to the dentist tomorrow because the silver crown tooth is now slightly loose. I think gums under silver crows are already in a compromised situation so MAKE SURE it does NOT go anywhere near gums under silver crows.
The first strip made my teeth hurt all night. It did go away though, you just have to put up with it.
It did whiten my teeth though. |

| Judging from the overwhelming positive response to this product I am giving it 4 stars. I have not even started to use it yet. Why am I writing a review then? Well, I bought the expensive version of the Whitestrips, Premium Plus. The back of the box states "Additional Premium Whitestrips for long lasting whitening." I bought this because I assumed that means there are a few additional strips in addition to the 40 listed on the front of the box. The pharmacist had no idea. Another reviewer stated there were 3 additonal strips. Well, let me tell you, there are no additional strips in my box. I'll be calling the manufacturer. |
A far better alternative is available.

| Review Date: February 18, 2006 |
| Reviewer: Robert Cooper, |
When I used these strips, I found that they were too flimsy, and therefore tended to bend back over themselves, making them difficult to apply. After they were applied to the teeth, they did not always stay in place and tended to slide around. Also, it is inconvenient to have to remove the strips, when they have done their work. For these reasons, I do not consider them to be the best alternative. A much better alternative is the dissolving whitening strips manufactured and distributed by CVS Pharmacy, Inc. These strips are less flimsy/ more firm and therefore don't stick onto themselves, they adhere to your teeth far better; AND they dissolve completely in about 5-7 minutes, leaving no messy residue or plastic film to have to discard. On size strip (larger than Crest's) fits both upper and lower teeth. The active ingredients are the same as Crest, but the cost is about half the cost of Crest. Superior to Crest in every way.

Pointless compared to the regular Whitestrips Premium

| Reviewer: Pen Name, Fairbanks, Alaska |
Crest Whitestrips is an incredible product. It is virtually the same hydrogen peroxide bleaching solution that dentists use. It's amazing how much whiter they make your teeth after only a few days. I've been using them for a couple of years and decided to try the new "Whitestrips Premium PLUS." This product is exactly the same as the regular Whitestrips Premium, except the box it comes in has a window and it comes with 3 extra days of strips. The regular Whitestrips takes 7 days and this takes 10. After 7 days, your teeth are pretty much as white as they're going to get, and I didn't notice much of a difference from the additional 3 days. The "Plus" in the product's name seems to refer more to the much higher cost of this product.
If you're thinking about getting this, just realize that all it is is three more strips, so when you figure out how much you're being charged per strip, you may find you're paying considerably more for these poer strip than the regular Whitestrips Premium.
That being said, the strips are a great product and if you get them, make sure you buy some toothpaste for sensitive teeth because this product WILL make your teeth feel like they're on fire. It's definitely worth it though. |

| I'm only on day two, but my teeth seem noticably whiter, which is a shock, because my teeth are relatively white to start and it's hard to find a product that makes any difference at all. It was very painful to apply them today, the peroxide burned my gums very much to the point where they turned white near my teeth. I toughed it out though, and the pain wore down after a few minutes. I did have problems all day though, it was a constant pain in my upper and lower teeth, I'm really hoping it's just temporarily sensativity. I also recommend applying lipbalm before using, because your teeth will probably get chapped. Let's hope the pain dies down, because they seem to be working! |

| My husband and I each bought a box of this before our wedding. I read the reviews on here so I knew it had the possibility of hurting but I figured that everyone's different and it might not hurt me. I used it for probably 2 or 3 days before the pain started. It quickly intensified. At its worst the pain was excruciating for the half hour that these were on my teeth and then my teeth continued to hurt and were extremely sensitive. On a plus side though they worked. I could not finish using them. I think I did 6 days or so before I couldn't take it anymore. Still even though I did not use all the strips there was a noticeable difference in my teeth. If I use them again I'll probably do every other day or every three days rather than follow the directions. Also, keep in mind that they may not hurt if you use them. My husband experienced less pain but it was still bad enough that he didn't finish using them either. They definitely work though so as they say, "no pain, no gain!" |

| I'm on day 4 of the kit. So far, I do see a notable difference in the whiteness of my teeth. Nothing spectacular, but they do look better. The part about the pain is true, although it was worse on day 1 and 2, and today I don't really feel any sensitivity any more, maybe I'm getting used to it. The strips are a PAIN to keep on though. You have to keep your mouth as still as possible, and they also make you salivate a lot more than usual which doesn't really help either. I also think they're too expensive but if you're looking for a wuick fix for your teeth then i do recommend it. |

I used them just as the directions stated and for the full amount of time. I just didn't see the vivid white teeth others raved about. They're white but not that fake snow white, which is good I guess, but a little something would have been nice, just enhancement was all I needed. | I've decided to try these again after using them several years ago. They did whiten my teeth, but I also remembered they caused my teeth to be super sensitive. My teeth do not have a tendency of being sensitive- unless I try to bite into ice cream; I cannot do that without feeling it. Before I put even the first day's strips on my teeth, I made sure to purchase some Sensodyne toothpaste, and I am so glad that I did. I followed the directions and put the strips on (without brushing first) and within the 30 minutes of applying them my teeth started getting painfully sensitive. I had such acute pain in my teeth a couple of times within those 30 minutes. Several hours later my teeth still feel very sensitive, and it is without any exposure to heat/cold. These will whiten your teeth, but you will definitely feel it. |

I've used Crest Whitestrips before, and these seem to do a pretty good job, but I'm not sure how much better the "Pro Effects" version is. Of course, amazon makes a very competitive price on this product, but I don't think the difference between the different "levels" of whitestrips really is worth it.
This isn't to say that the Pro-Effects don't do their job. I really like them and after only using about 8 out of 20 of them I can tell a noticeable difference in my teeth whiteness. Teeth sensitivity only effected me on the first couple strips, after that I was fine, that might be one of the reasons I like this strip, I think the first version may be a little harsher on the teeth, but I have no evidence to support this because the last time I used whitestrips was years ago.
I recommend this product unless you're on a budget and can find a much better deal on the regular whitestrips. |

GoSmile VS crest white strips

| I used to think Crest white strips were equal to GoSmile, until I tried the new ADVANCED GoSmile B1. Crest can give up to 5 shades whiter, only gave me about three, but the new Gosmile that halle berry uses, gives you up to 10 shades whiter. My teeth are sooooo white now that everyone wants some. It's cheapest at www.new-raves.com |
Great product but pointless

Crest Whitestrips is an incredible product. It is virtually the same hydrogen peroxide bleaching solution that dentists use. It's amazing how much whiter they make your teeth after only a few days. I've been using them for a couple of years and decided to try the new "Whitestrips Premium PLUS." This product is exactly the same as the regular Crest Whitestrips Premium- 7- Day Dental Whitening Formula System, 28 Strips, except the box it comes in has a window and it comes with 3 extra days of strips. The regular Whitestrips takes 7 days and this takes 10. After 7 days, your teeth are pretty much as white as they're going to get, and I didn't notice much of a difference from the additional 3 days. The "Plus" in the product's name seems to refer more to the much higher cost of this product.
If you're thinking about getting this, just realize that all it is is three more strips, so when you figure out how much you're being charged per strip, you may find you're paying considerably more for these per strip than the regular Crest Whitestrips Premium- 7- Day Dental Whitening Formula System, 28 Strips.
That being said, the strips are a great product and if you get them, make sure you buy some toothpaste for sensitive teeth because this product WILL make your teeth feel like they're on fire. It's definitely worth it though. |
It works....with a cost to your teeth and gums

If the only thing you want to know is whether or not this product whitens your teeth, it does. However, there are some caveats:
1) It works only on yellow stains
2) May require two units (ie two packages) for heavily stained teeth
3) The hydrogen peroxide (the stuff that whitens your teeth) can burn your gums (it did for me). If this happens to you, stop immediately and let your gums heal. Give it a few days and then reapply. If it still burns, discontinue the product. Also, this product is not for people with sensitive teeth and it inflammes the inner nerves of your teeth.
ALternative, try the Crest Night Effects. You get to control what teeth gets whitened and it doesn't burn your gums or teeth. |
Problematic

| Like clockwork the lower strip ALWAYS comes off after about 10 minutes. I sit calmly with my mouth closed then occasionally get up to check my teeth in the mirror and sure enough the lower strip keeps slipping off. Crest needs to remedy this problem. The TV commercial says that you can wear these strips almost anywhere, which is a joke. You certainly don't want to wear these strips in public as saliva accumulates in your mouth. Forget about talking or exercising when wearing these strips. |
Work well, but with problems

Crest Whitestrips actually work very well, but this version has several issues which would prevent me from buying them again.
Unlike Crest Whitestrips I've used in the past, these are very flimsy and hard to handle and to apply to the teeth. One on, they are too slippery and flimsy to stay in place well.
The heavy plastic container them came in is absurd. Why do we need a thick plastic compartment that weights 15 times more than the actual product? Am I going to save it to keep my valuables in? What was wrong with the simple paper box the other version of Whitestrips used? |
Strips slip around too much

| It's hard for me to tell if these strips did any good (that should say enough), but they also didn't stay in place very well. They slipped around and made it awkward to speak with family (who said I sounded like I had a lisp). The strips are two different sizes, one for your upper teeth; one for the lower, but the one for your lower teeth was fatter (it should have been longer) and merely covered behind my teeth too (uh, I don't need white teeth where only my tongue can see them!). My suggestion to Crest: make both strips the same length and width. |
They are not what you think... :-(

There's a reason why curiousity killed the cat... I read all the reviews on all these crest whitening products prior to my purchase... Being curious, price conscious and wanting the best bang for my buck, I bought these crest white strips... I can tell you that I'm not impressed! Prior to purchasing these, I have used the equate Walmart brand in the blue and white box, 56 strips I think and they run about $18.00, so I have something to compare.
1. The biggest pain with these crest strips is that they are very thin, flimsy, they tear very easily and they move all over your teeth even if you press your lips down on them from the outside of your mouth.
2. I hardly saw a difference after using these crest strips, every single time I used the walmart strips, I saw white and about 2-3 white spots on my teeth immediately after every use. The white spots are small, normal and they go away within a short amount of time. Btw, I have fairly nice teeth, not bright bright white but not all yellowish either... Maybe a 6-7 out of 10 whiteness.
3. With these crest strips my lips became dry, sticky and my teeth hurt for a while after every use, even during the night. I rarely felt tooth sensitivity with the walmart brand.
All in all, they are both suppose to do the same thing... Whiten teeth! The walmart brand strips are a little bit thicker but easier to use in my opinion and they stay put, crest says your able to be normal, talk and enjoy life with theirs on... hogwash!! When I put on any whitening strips, I'm at home watching TV or on the computer and the last thing I want to do is have a conversation with someone! 30 minutes flies right on by and then I do another 30. I have nothing against crest, I just think they put more effort into marketing their nice oversized blue plastic box rather than making a better whitening product! If it looks good, people will buy it... That's Corporate America! I'm sooo glad I didn't pay the rediculous price they want in the retail stores!!! I will not be buying these again. Hope this info helps... |

| I have used this kit for the recommended amount of time, and to be honest I was not happy with it at all. First off, the whitening was noticeable but negligible. It was not the whitening I expected, and I did not start with excessively yellowed teeth. When I looked at the difference between my back molars and the teeth being whitened I saw a very very small difference. The real downside to these strips is the intense pain of my teeth now! Everything became painful, and everything I touched made my teeth feel reminiscent of the "nails on the chalkboard" tooth pain some people might also experience. I don't know how to explain it but it was painful and annoying, my teeth constantly ached even without excessive heat or cold. This pain was ridiculous, and it showed up around the 5th day, which forced me to stop the strips for a few days. I do not recommend this product at all! The pain vs the whitening is NOT WORTH IT! |

| I didn't experience any pain but I also didn't really see my teeth get that much whiter either. I followed the instructions exactly as described with minimal results. Oh well, I only paid around $15 so no big deal. I may try a different brand and see if I get better results. |

May cause horrible sharp PAIN!

I am 21 years old. My teeth are a little dingy and yellowy, so I decided to try a cheap solution. BAD IDEA.
I followed the directions and after the first use, after just five minutes, I felt a horrible sharp pain in one of my teeth. The box warns against "tooth sensitivity". I didn't know that terrible achy/sharp/electrified pain fell under that category. My teeth still hurt. I feel like I have a hundred rotting cavities right now. I guess my tooth enamel is in really bad shape or something. I can chew ice and drink hot beverages without pain so I assumed my teeth were reasonably strong.
This product is not for everyone. Unless you have mega tough bad-ass teeth, I recommend you try a milder tooth whitening option.
I remember trying whitestrips when they first came out and they didn't cause me pain. I think this is has the highest peroxide level of all the versions, so that is most likely my problem.
I am definitely not risking the pain again with this genre of DIY Dentistry. I hear medieval nobleman would gargle with their own urine to produce a whitening effect....mmmm....urine.......I wonder if it qualifies for Amazon Prime? |
Pain, pain, and more pain

I waited for these to go on sale, and when they finally did, I took my $7 off coupon and raced to the store. I had used the original version of these a few years ago, and had remembered getting decent results, so I thought this version would be even better.
Was it? Well I can't say because I was only able to use them twice before the pain got to be so intense that I could not even drink cold water, or eat anything warm. It was awful. The pain does not occur just around the time you're wearing the strip. It occurs all day long. And not to mention that you end up swallowing much of the gel because the strips make you salivate more than normal. So not only are they painful, but they're also a pain to use. I do NOT recommend these. Try the original version (I don't remember having pain from those). |
Extreme pain, horrible product

| I have used similar product from Crest, the 7 strip (total of 14 with half hour use every day), and had no problem specially it was much cheaper even though I bought it at Walgreens. However this new supposedly supper duper product caused severe pain after just one use (2 strips back to back total of 1 hour). It took about 3 days to recover from pain (both gum and teeth)and after 10 days my teeth are still sensitive to cold or hot food. I should have used the same old product that I had good experience with, big mistake! |
