Recently, my mother was put on oxygen. She was told to keep a close eye on her oxygen level, and to keep track of what it ran so sh could inform her doctor. We called several medical supply places locally, but all of them wanted over $300 for an Oximeter. My mother is on a fixed income, so we were beginning to loose hope when I decided to look here on Amazon. I was worried because a lot of the Oximeters were still so expensive. Then I found this one. It was less expensive then the rest, but seemed to still have all the bells and whistles as the more expensive ones.
Since getting This meter, my mother and I have beenoverjoyed. Now she can be more independant, and is able to see when her oxygen is too low. It's really a wonderful product. I'm glad I ordred it. The oeration is simple, and the screen is large enough that even I can read it, despite my vision problems.
Overall, it's a wonderful product. I couldn't ask for more! |

| My mom was in the hospital for 40 days about 4 weeks ago. Her oxygen level and pulse was something that has to be watched closely. When she got home I was worried about her oxygen and pulse so I went onto Amazon and found this oximeter. The next day I was talking to a family member who is a physical therapist for a home health nursing facility. She was telling me how she has been wanting one of these but could not afford to pay what most places were asking for them. I told her about finding one for 70.00 and she said when you order one order me one too. I ordered them the next day and they were sent within a few days to our door. We use them everyday and it has given me and my family peace of mind. My family member that I ordered one for said that she tested her agaist the machines at work and that they were dead on accurate. We are very pleased and would like to say thank you for making them affordable. |
Inexpensive Pulse-Ox

I had considered purchasing a Pulse ox for several years for home use. But all of our doctors said that "if you are wondering about your oxygen saturation, come to the office or call 911." Well, we had a family member come home from the hospital on oxygen. We knew the need for oxygen would last only a few days. The medical supply company came to deliver the oxygen right away, but they don't rent out pulse oximeters! They would sell me one for $300, but it would take 2 weeks to arrive. Very frustrating. So I purchased the Octive Tech 300C from Amazon. It works well and gives readings that matched the readings taken in the doctor's office. It clearly will NOT take a lot of abuse, but it get's the job done. When I admited the purchase to the doctor, I told him that it would probably just increase my phone calls to his office. He laughed.
Then we discussed the signs and symptoms of respiratory distress, which are really more important than the reading on the meter. But I have much more peace of mind knowing I have my own meter now.
Update 05-07-2009: Oximeter is still working just fine after one year. |

| Recently, my husband was hospitalized for a "breathtaking" upper respiratory infection which conflicted his breathing capabilities. He was in a rehab unit for a month for pulmonary rehab. Each day while he was working out, they used a pulse oximeter to determine his oxygen levels and heart rate. (In addition to COPD - he also has congestive heart failure.) We purchased one of these units to monitor his levels after he was released. Actually, I had misgivings about the unit due to its low cost relative to other units available - thinking that the low price would mean it was ineffective. Because it was shown as being approved by the FDA, I did purchase it and have to say that we are very satisfied with it and have tested its accuracy with units in the pulmonary physician's office. My husband would like to wean himself off the oxygen he now requires and we use this unit as he does his exercises at home to determine if his breathing or heart function become compromised. Our experience with the unit has been very positive. |

| I have been having some major health problems. One Saturday I was forced to call for a Home Health Nurse (versus the paramedics). I was having trouble breathing and was concerned I was having a heart attack, yet had no pain, etc. All I needed was to have my blood oxygen level checked, and had to go through an hour of blather from the nurse, when 30 seconds with the oximeter told me what I needed to know. My short breath was caused by a light asthma attack due to a change in my meds. Nurse told me I could not buy a reliable oximeter under $300. I read the reviews and decided to try this unit. It has worked perfectly every time, and is simple to use, you just stick your finger into it! Now if I have any concern I can check my oxygen level myself, without suffering through the verbal assault of a "know it all nurse," or wasting the EMT's valuable time. |
Best Price, Accurate, and Reliable
|

| Reviewer: Menace915, El Paso |
A pulse oximeter is used to measure the oxygen saturation of arterial blood (Sp02). The acceptable range in Sp02 is from 95-100%. Some people will be short of breath with an SpO2 of less than 90%. Anything less than 70% is considered to be life-threatening. As you can see, oxygen saturation can show you if a person is in distress. As a result, you want a pulse oximeter that is reliable and accurate, because lives might depend on its ability to monitor status adequately.
This pulse oximeter does just that. It is the best $67.95 you could invest. Other oximeters as accurate as this one can be well over $400. The accuracy of this oximeter is unmatched. I have taken this particular pulse oximeter to the hospital, and compared the results to the expensive units used in hospitals. The pulse and SpO2 measurements of this oximeter and the one at the hospital matched 100 PERCENT. There was absolutely no discrepancy.
Other advantages is that this little unit is as accurate as can be, and it is way smaller than the hospital units. It is portable, comes with a protective hard case, a lanyard, and it only requires 2 AAA batteries.
The pulse and SP02 are shown in bright red numbering.
Cons:
This pulse oximeter does not beep to alert you when a person's SP02 is very low. Another bad thing is that if you leave the batteries in the pulse ox, the next time you try to use the device, it will have drained the batteries and you will need fresh ones. This is of course solved by taking the batteries out before storing the pulse ox. Other than these minor blemishes, the pulse oximeter is PERFECT!
I highly recommend it, like I mentioned before: it is of the same quality as those used in the hospitals. As a nursing student, I tested this myself because I couldn't believe it was so in-expensive, and yet so reliable. This is not something that's "too good to be true," it's your once in a lifetime to get a perfect deal. |

| This oximeter works great! It's so small, light weight, and gives results very quickly. I know they don't recommend taking your pulse during exercise but I've tried it and found it to be very accurate! It's so much easier to exercise at your desired target heart rate using this handy instrument. I never used to pay attention to target heart rate and I got frustrated because it just didn't seem like I could last very long walking on the treadmill. Well, after I purchased this, I found a great website that calculates both weight loss and cardio fitness target heart rates. What a difference it made sticking to the appropriate target heart rate, no wonder I was so exhausted before, I was exercising well above my target heart rate! [...] |

Finger Pulse Oximeter Works Just Like The Expensive Ones
|
| Review Date: November 21, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Skip W., Republic of Texas |
| The review title says it all..!! This little jewel takes two AAA batteries, not included. After easy battery installation just put it on and press the start button. After that everything is automatic. It gives an accurate reading within about 5 seconds and will continue to provide pulse and oxygen levels during the time it is worn. To shut it off, simply remove it and it shuts off completely within about 10 seconds. I've checked mine with similar instruments in different doctors' offices and it has been within 1 point on each reading every time. Just playing around with it I've found it works well on all fingers and toes, should that need ever arrive. The necklace pouch is quite handy and provides good protection. This unit is very light and can be easily carried in a bag or purse. One area where it is somewhat problematic is using it on a treadmill while exercising. It works well if you hold your hand pretty steady during exercise but gives varying readings if your hand is swinging or bouncing around. I won't fault it for that as I'm sure that was not part of the design criteria. I'd recommend this particular instrument to anyone looking to measure their oxygen levels and pulse while in a stationary environment or on the go. I've used this product for several weeks now and I'm VERY HAPPY with it. It allows me to exercise while monitoring my oxygen levels and heart rate. I'd purchase this same item again should my current one become lost or damaged. |
FDA Approved
|
| Review Date: September 22, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Dave, Portland |
There are some reviewers who have written negative reviews because they mistakenly thought the device was not FDA approved. I didn't want to buy a non-FDA approved device so I did some digging. It turns out it is approved by the FDA. The confusion probably arises because the manufacturers name is marketed in the US as "Octivetech" when it is in fact made by "BEIJING CHOICE ELECTRONIC TECHNOLOLGY CO" and the FDA approval information is under that name.
The FDA approval number (510 K number) is: K070371 (you can plug that number in to the search field on the FDA website to see the full report)
Amazon may not allow posting the link to the FDA report but I'll try anyway:
http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfPMN/pmn.cfm?ID=24051
I've found it to be easy to use and reasonably accurate (it reads within 1% of the monitor used in our doctor's office). I wouldn't call it the most robust piece of equipment in the world but for the price I'm not sure you can beat it. |
My Dad loves it and doesn't go anywhere without it

| This was ordered for my dad at his request after I mentioned seeing them in catalogues. I did not know that he had been wanting one ever since he saw the one that the lady who delivers his oxygen had. She did not know where he could get one. He has COPD and has used Oxygen for 7 years. He was originally told that he was to use the oxygen 24/7---yeah sure. My dad is just not going to do that. He has to at least see how he does without it. With this he at least has some measure of how he is doing without it other than just how he feels. Plus, he now watches his oxygen level and puts the oxygen back on before he starts feeling bad. He loves it and says he would not do without one now. In addition to oxygen, he also does at home breathing treatments. I was waiting until after he saw his lung specialist to review this since he was going to use it at the same time he checked his levels at his visit to see how close it was to the lung specialist's equipments reading. It was exactly the same. At a recent visit, I was able to see it and try it. In addition to your oxygen level, it also gives your pulse reading. It is very easy to use, just turn it on and stick your finger in the opening and after a very short wait you have your Oxygen level and pulse. I want one now just to check my pulse when exercising. I can only use one hand and that makes it very difficult to use most other devises that give pulse readings but with this device that isn't a problem. Plus, I would get my oxygen level too. Although, it's a little expensive to me just for that so I'll wait on one for me. My dad said if he forgets to turn it off that it turns itself off. My dad said it was the best, to give it 5 stars and that he wouldn't be without it now. |

| I bought one of these based on Amazon reviews. I was not disappointed. The product does exactly what it's supposed to, without any fuss or hours of study figuring out how to operate it. Uses two AAA batteries (not included). Readings compare very close to pulse-oximeters costing two or three times as much. Easy to clean, and the hard case is great and fits in a pocket. As a matter of fact, I bought a second one for my wife, a nurse, to use on her rounds. Highly recommended--it's a great, well-designed product. |

| The test meter worked very well, actually it was compared with the home care nurse and they both read the same. The only difference is his was over $500. I think it was a good purchase for the money and he even said he was going to look into getting one for his personal use. Its also useful having the pulse strength meter to help you get it positioned right on the finger for optimal use. All in all I was well satisfied. |

I was very pleased when I placed this oximeter on my wife's finger while the hospital equipment was still hooked up, both pieces of equipment provided the exact readings. Put my mind at ease. I would definately recommend this oximeter to anyone wanting to monitor their own or a loved one's oxygen saturation and pulse. |

| I recently had pneumonia and was in a hospital 800 miles from home. The Doctors wouldn't discharge me until my %Oxygen level in my blood was over 90. I was registering at 88%-90%. I spent six days in the hospital over New Years week. I told the Doctor that possibly my levels were normal near 90%. Also, I needed to have a meter to experiment on how I could get my levels up well over 90% so I could go home. The hospital staff wouldn't cooperate with me in experimenting, so I "borrowed" a meter from outside the Hospital and I figured-out how to get my % elevated to 96, although it was temporary. Upon my release from the hospital, I decided to keep a log of my normal % Oxygen level. I purchased the 300C and it's GREAT. My levels do hang-out in the low 90s. When I start walking again, I'll take the meter with me (it also registers heart-rate). |

| I was recently diagnosed with COPD and the doc said that my oxygen level in my blood was too low. Come to find out I am a shallow breather and am not always aware of my breathing, so I got this unit. This unit is for a biofeedback set up for me to remind me to take deep breaths and allows me to see how I am doing with the great display. As a plus I can check my heart rate. I would say it's worth the money. It does run through the batteries though. |

My mother in law was always falling asleep at the supper table. She was also complaining that she was cold all the time. She would repeat herself and was forgetful. I suspected that she wasn't getting enough oxygen to her brain and body. This little gem works fast and is painless. It's easy to use. You can spend a lot more for similar devices, but this one worked fine.
When it arrived, I put the batteries in and it was ready to go. Tried it on my mother in law, while she was awake, and her O2 saturation was normal. But when I put it on her while she was asleep, the oxygen saturation was in the 70's. I told the doctor, and he had an overnight monitor placed on her from the DME company, and sure enough, she needed oxygen at night. (2 L/min)
Now that she uses oxygen at night, she is not as cold, and she quit falling asleep at the table. Her oxygen saturation at night is in the 90's, where it should be. She may even be a bit less forgetful, but she still tends to repeat herself.
Do not use this device as a substitute for consulting with your professional health care provider. |

| My husband was recently placed on oxygen. I called the doctors office to find out how I could purchase a oximeter. They laughed at me. Told me those were way to expensive $300-500. I was shopping on line for another item when this one popped up. So I purchased it. It gave both my husband and I the peace of mind we were looking for a month. It also allowed me to monitor him as he went through the dying process. He was home on hospice care for his final week. And I didn't need to call anyone. I was able to adjust his oxygen myself. And knew when the end was near. Now he's taking a deep breathe of heavenly air. What a blessing this product was!! |

My Husbands pulmonologist advised against getting any type of home monitor for his oxygen level. But I had a coupon! Bought this handy finger monitor based on reviews and price. It's easy to read and use. My husband actually took it to an appointment with his general doctor and he put his new one on 1 finger and the doctor put his on the other hand. There was a difference of 2, but the doctor said that would be normal based on the oxygen concentration is better closer to the heart.

I requested (and received) this for Christmas after reading all the reviews. It is the real deal.
In comparison to my previous oximeter from SPO, this one:
1) Has a clip for your finger rather than a boot with a fixed angle like the SPO. This clip applies a more consistent pressure without the risk that you will reduce circulation in your finger tip by forcing it into the boot.
2) Provides a reading more quickly that updates more frequently.
3) Provides a more stable reading based on comparison to the SPO.
4) Has a series of bars that provides a dynamic display of the sensor output level.
5) Uses two AAA batteries rather than hard to find 1/2 AAs.
6) Costs less.
Have fun. |

| I have exercised induced asthma and that causes me problems when I exercise. I have the rescue inhaler and I use it before and I still have problems. However, every year my pulmonary doctor tells me I'm breathing better, but I don't see it, so I wanted my own equipment to measure my blood oxygen. I keep asking for a Pulmonary Function Test when I'm exercising...but that never happens....so I'll try to find the problem myself. This is a good buy and works great. I would definitely recommend to a friend. On to the Peak Flow Meter next. |

| This product worked great while traveling to be able to monitor my husband's oxygen level and heart rate. He is 80 years old and we recently traveled by airplane from Washington State to Arkansas via the Dallas Airport. We had a portable oxygen concentrator yet it was great to have the monitor to be sure his oxygen level was in the acceptable range. We continue to use this product at home. The grand kids even have fun checking their oxygen levels and heart rate before and after exercise. |

| I found this item to be as advertised. I use it to keep track of my oxygen level and heart rate. I have not compared it with other meters, but the readings are consistant and in the range of what I expect. I feel that it is doing what I wanted it to do. The price was very good (affordable). For me it is not critical that it be exact, but rather an indication of overall condition at the moment. |

He can read the numbers without difficulty. It arrived on time and in good condition. |

| My mom has COPD and after a recent hospitalization had to be on oxygen 24/7 for the first time. She also has A-Fib and other heart issues. Using bottled oxygen for the first time and her oxygen concentrator (previously used only a night with her CPAP) to keep her blood oxygen level up outside of the hovering oversight of the hospital was very stressful. This Oximeter has helped us a lot in making sure that the oxygen settings are appropiate and that her heart rate is being well controlled by her medication. This has been a difficult transition made much less stressful with this purchase. It is worth the price for peace of mind. |

It looks and works just like the one a friend of mine paid over $300 for in a store. I have a lung disorder and it has given me some information about how my activities effect my oxygen level. I strongly recommend this product to others there is no need to pay more. It was shipped and arrived as advertised. I am very pleased. |

| Love this easy to use pulse oximeter. I bought it for my Mom and told her to call me if she needed help figuring out how to use it. She said she figured it out when she opened it. It is easy to read and the size makes it easy to keep handy so it is available when needed. All that and a price that is considerably lower than the full size oximeters, makes this a highly recommended product. |

There was a time in my life that it wasn't uncommon to be sent to the urgent care or hospital for an asthma attack as much as 3 times a week. the bills were getting outrageous as you can tell... To cut down on these i wanted a device that allowed me to actually see if the asthma attack was real and if my oxygen levels lowered enough to go to the hospital... i personally could not tell because they all felt like death coming on...
Using this product cut my visits down 95% percent. so i started to chart my pulse rate with the oxygen levels.. after 5 months of doing this and seeing my primary doctor we found out the additional causes that were giving me these attacks...
pros:
1: saved me tons of medical bills.
2: allowed me to see when an attack was worse enough to go and when one was worth living through.
cons:
1: to get an acurate reading you need to leave it on your finger for more than 20 seconds and i recommend not moving it.
2: i also noticed a slight change in pulse and oxygen levels depending on what finger and what hand i used it on... this wasn't enough to deter me from my opinion of it.
i would purchase this unit over again in a 'heart-beat' i recommend one to any one suffering from asthma. |

| For those users who have serious lung issues and have been unable to afford the high price tags on other Oximeters, this product represents dream come true. To be able to monitor my oxygen levels in my home, who would have thought I could ever afford to. This is one of the best fifty dollars I have ever spent and I would buy it again and again if needed. I was recently hospitalized with an asthma attack and was able to correlate the readings on this instrument with those of the hospital instruments. The deviation was pretty insignificant. This is a tool that allows people with a serious medical condition to have the information that affords them better medical care. |

| Reviewer: M. Spackman, PDX, OR USA |
| I have fairly mild allergy induced asthma and this inexpensive pulse oximeter gives me a heads up before I get to the point of having an asthma attack. When I wake up in the morning I can easily put this on my finger and know that if it reads below 98 percent that I should probably take an antihistamine if I don't want a full blown asthma attack later in the day. Pollen forcasts are pretty useless in Oregon, but this tiny piece of technology is a godsend. This device should not be kept in a vehicle in the sun; but can, according to the package, be stored in temperatures of 14 to 104 degrees fahrenheit and humidities of 10% to 80%. Great price and seems to be as acurate as the the $200+ machine at the doctors(same readings on two vists in the last year). |

I received the finger pulseox today, just in time (I have to return the tuffsat tomo at my son's post-op checkup) I compared the sats several times & they're right on target with his several hundred dollar hospital issued monitor. My son is 7 months old, and I used his index, middle, and ring fingers (or just the middle while he was sleeping, but while he was up & wiggling all 3 worked best) & it worked for me. You have to finagle a bit because the sensor is not much smaller than their little fingers so it has to be in the right spot but it beats the heck out of a $300+ infant monitor! Plus it's easy and portable, no coban, tape or wrapping, no wires & it fits in your pocket! I have to say again that it's the kind that clips on your finger, so I definitely wouldn't use it for overnight or other long-term monitoring on an infant, but to check sats anytime/anywhere gives great peace of mind. My son has congenital heart disease, and just had his second heart surgery. He needs daily oxygen saturation and weight monitoring, so when I found out my insurance was no longer covering the pulseox I was sick to think I had to drop a few hundred $$ on a new monitor! I was so happy to find this much more cost-efficient (and way more convenient) one here! I did also use the sat on myself and my son's grandmother, and it works great and very quickly on adults, no finagling necessary! =p
Well I'm just so excited that I found this, I hope my review helps someone else! |

| I found the Pulseox 300c Pulse & Oximeter to be an excellent product. It gives you fast accurate readings for your pulse rate and oxygen level. After having heart surgery I had to keep a daily log of my pulse rate and oxygen level. This product made it a simple task. Just clip it on your finger tip and in less than a minute you have both reading displayed on an easy to read screen. Like most medical equipment it is a bit pricey. If you are in a situation where you need to measure your pulse and oxygen level daily, I'd recomend you consider this product. Pulseox 300c Pulse Oximeter, White |

| I'm a RRT(respiratory therapist) and I purchased this pulse ox several months ago. I use it daily and have found it to be very accurate. It is lightweight, easy to read in dark or bright rooms, and works well on pts with poor circulation. The only complaints I have is that it is slower and more sensitive to motion than $400 handheld models. I have also noticed the lettering for SPO2 an HR has already started to wear off. I would recommend this product to RTs, PTs, and RNs who want an affordable pulse ox. |

I recently purchased the fingerpulse oximeter Octive Tech 300C.
I find this product to be very good. It uses two AAA batteries.
One thing you need to understand the difference between this oximeter and the ones you see in the hospitals is that - in hospitals it is a continuous monitoring type. Whereas this one is like a thermometer. You put it on your finger and press the button and you get the reading at that moment.
However it is a great tool and gives a lot of peace of mind - which ofcourse could only be understood by patients (with a history of O2 dropping) and their relatives/attendants. |

| I am a Nurse that has been working with PulseOx for years. I recently had a little Pneumonia and wanted to follow my recovery, O2 sat is as important as blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate. I purchased the Octive Tech 300c for that reason. It works great, it's quick the capture the pulse and provide the readings. It's small, and easy to use. The only thing about the device that I think could be improved is the led display. At least for my eyes, it takes a second to read it, and if it moves I cant' read the display. Over all it's a great machine and for the price. . . can't go wrong with the Octive Tech 300c. |

She balked at having to sleep with the canula and decided she 'didn't need the O2 over night'. After the pusle/ox arrived and she saw the readings the next few mornings she decided that sleeping with the O2 was not so bad after all. The unit works just fine. I like the auto turn-off feature. Took it to her last doctor's appointment the the readings were identical to the med staff's meter. |

I got this to be able to check oxygen saturation of my 90 yr old mother. The price was much better than the $350 her oncologist told me I'd have to spend at REI (where he recommended that I go). I have checked the accuracy at her doctor's office and the oxygen therapist's and it is within 1 percentage point of theirs. It gives my mother and me a great feeling of comfort that we can follow her O2 status more often than the once per week that she was previously being tested. It's made a big difference in her treatment. Delivery and telephone assistance were top notch.

| The readings for heart rate and oxygen saturation are designed to be read by someone other than the user. Therefore the readings are upside down to the person trying to check his/her own readings, for instance when using a treadmill or eliptical trainer. Many other oximeters can be reversed so that the user can see the readings correctly. So far I have not found this possible with this particular oximeter. Otherwise it is convenient, light weight, and non obtrusive. Very convenient and effective. |

| This product shipped super fast. Checked it against my Doctors "Hospital grade" Oximeter worth hundreds more, same readings exactly. (Compared for 2-3 minutes) Would be five stars, but gave it four because it sometimes has to re-boot during a reading, and can take several seconds to do so. Comes with a clear rubber protective jacket, and a little Camera style travel case. Had it about two months now. I'm very satisfied so far. |
