Next, place your arm on a table so the cuff is positioned at the same level as your heart. | Omron Health Management Software Take your health to the next level with the included Omron Health Management Software. This PC software provides a blood pressure and pulse graph that lets you see how your values are trending over time. A morning/evening comparison graph tracks your morning and evening systolic and diastolic blood pressure and heart rate. You can also view your most common values and identify variations by time frame with the frequency distribution graph. The software is simple to use, and it supports multiple users. With just one click, you can download data via the HEM-790IT's USB connection and see graphically displayed measurements on your computer screen in seconds. Instructions for Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitors There are several easy steps to taking your blood pressure with this blood pressure monitor. First of all, avoid eating, smoking, and exercising for at least 30 minutes before taking a measurement. Remove tight-fitting clothing from your upper arm, and sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor. Slide your left arm through the cuff and position the cuff approximately 0.5-inches above the elbow. On the cuff you'll notice a green marker; position this marker directly over the artery on the inside of your arm. Next, secure the cuff with the Velcro material. The cuff should make direct contact with your skin, but you should be able to easily fit your index finger between the cuff and your arm. Place your arm on a table so that the cuff is positioned at the same level as your heart. Rest comfortably in a relaxed environment for at least 15 minutes prior to taking your blood pressure measurement. Once you feel relaxed, simply press the start button and remain still. The cuff will begin to inflate and numbers will appear on the display as the heart symbol flashes. When the measurement is complete, the cuff will deflate, and your blood pressure and pulse rate will display on the screen. If you need to stop the measurement at any time, simply press the on/off button and the monitor will immediately deflate. And remember, always consult your physician for specific information about your blood pressure. What is IntelliSense? The IntelliSense monitor inflates the cuff to the ideal level with each use -- you never have to make any adjustments to select an inflation level. This is especially convenient for hypertensive users and for people with certain arrhythmia or heart disorders because their blood pressure is so likely to fluctuate. The biggest advantage of using the IntelliSense technology is a personalized inflation, every time, for maximum comfort. The Importance of Home Blood Pressure Monitoring Doctors, diabetes educators, physician assistants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals all recommend home blood pressure monitoring for various reasons. Home monitoring provides your healthcare professionals with better information to understand and manage your high blood pressure. Many types of hypertension can only be detected by monitoring your blood pressure at home, including: - White-coat Hypertension: blood pressure reading is high in your doctor's office but lower at home
- Masked Hypertension: blood pressure reading is low in doctor's office but higher at home
- Morning Hypertension: blood pressure reading is higher in the morning
Additionally, many factors can affect your blood pressure, including physical exertion, emotional fluctuations, medications, and stress. So having your blood pressure monitored at a pharmacy with an in-store device after you've been shopping or walking around might not provide you with the most accurate measurement. Monitoring your blood pressure at home allows you achieve a relaxed state more easily, and it gives you the flexibility to take your measurements at various times during the day. By keeping track of your home blood pressure readings, you can provide your healthcare professional with a log of your measurements over time. This can help them evaluate the effectiveness or need for medication.

| This was pretty simple to use AFTER I had read all the instructions - I still keep them to hand though as I forget the little tricks you can use to, for example allow a guest to use the BP monitor. I like that it keeps my information AND my husband's, and it comes with the software to allow you to download the information to your PC. Means that you can make copies over a period of time to show your doctor. |

Blood Pressure Monitor HEM 790IT

I received the blood pressure item in quick time, well wrapped. I was pleased.
I learned how to use the Monitor over a course of a few days, with instructions included and additional instructions via the internet.
My only disappointment was that the unit will not allow me to use my Mac computer to upload and record the data; it seems it's only set up for a Windows operating system. Had I been aware of that I would not have ordered this deluxe item with the computer features and would have gotten the simple, cheaper one instead.
Otherwise, it is well made. I am surprised that when taking blood pressure readings not one of them is the same as the one before and you have to take a series of readings and determine what range your readings are in: safe, beginning hi or low, and high (or low) and rate your level from that.. |

| My doc keeps asking me if I've got a method for tracking my blood pressure as high pressure runs in my family. Well, based on reviews, I got this little unit. Ease of use is exactly that. Easy! I loathe reading manuals and this unit is basically intuitive but, if you wish to use advanced features (memory settings, two person settings) it's best to read the manual. It's straight forward and plainly describes what to do, which I appreciate very much. I haven't installed the software yet but, plan on doing that soon. It appears the basic function of the software is for creating graphs and following the history of your blood pressure readings. The fact that this unit uses USB points to a long usability period as that's a standard I don't think is going anywhere soon. My next doc visit isn't til June and I'm taking the unit in w/ me to compare to his manual method. By then the Omron will have had plenty of use and I can see how it compares to the "real thing" after it 's gone through it's paces for 7-8 months. The unit feels solidly constructed. The cuff is of good size for larger arms (might be a bit large for smaller arms, even) and the unit pressures up consistently. It's a bit of a trust test the first time it airs up but, be patient, it won't strangle your arm, though on first use, you might argue that. Battery and AC power make this a really convenient, no excuse not to use, unit. I'm happy with this product so far. |

For the past two weeks our use of this machine has been consistent and the results from the readouts are the same: consistent.
Before buying the 790, I took my old 711 to the cardiologist for measurement. The 711 was close to 100%. Doc said that is normal and suggested the 711 normally runs a tad high. By developing a statistical base I could now compare the 711 to the 790 to see if the comparison holds true. It held true. Given the difference in models, the bottom line is that the 790 works as well as the 711 BUT with major differences. You can have two separate users. That's nice for us. You can have two separate histories. Nice. The cuff on the 790 works so much better than the 711. While somewhat cheap, the 790 carrying case is still better than nothing. The 790 is fast even when using the 3 time average method (our favorite). Regardless of how well the 790 records blood pressure it has one additional factor that makes the price worthwhile: the software. In a few weeks I will visit my cardiologist with a printout of the 790's and the 720's pedometer's histories. While some of the numbers are not where I would want them they are the numbers and they provide information that could potentially save one's life. I know that to be true for my sake since I am writing this from the light side. |

| After getting many false readings from a wrist type monitor, my doctor suggested that I look into buying a digital cuff BP monitor. Lucky for me that I did, because I had been living with untreated hypertension for who knows how long. Anyway, I took this one with me to a few pharmacies that have free BP apperatus to check the numbers for accuracy and it was perfect. I love it because it's easy to use and PC interactive if you want to use that option. However, you do not have to own a computer to use it. This is also the same one that one of my doctors uses in his office. I can't say enough good things about it. If you have hypertension, this is a must have. |

This is a great Blood Pressure Monitor. I had Omron products before. They make a quality product. This product works as described. Amazon shipping
was fast. I like having an A/C adapter or batteries for its operation. I gave this product a pretty thorough comparison check with other products on the internet before buying and Amazon had the best prices and Omron HEM-790IT had the best features.
Thank You! Amazon and Omron... I'll be seeing you again.. |

I purchased the Omron HEM-790IT blood pressure monitor to replace my old unit, which had served me well, but had "given up the ghost".
I like this unit for several reasons. First, it's size is large enough to read comfortably, but not overly bulky. It comes with a nice carrying case, and also with a wall power supply, and travels easily.
The software which comes with it is extremely useful to me. When entered into the computer, a process which is very easy and quick to complete, it keeps track and graphs readings over time in several different display modes. If desired, it allows the user to enter comments, such as "forgot to take medicine", &c., and therefore helps the patient to more actively participate in his/her own health.
It's "irregular heartbeat" feature is extremely important for many users, including myself, and displays if the heart beat is 25% or more irregular at least twice during a session.
It allows for use by 2 principle users and a guest if desired.
It is solid, and very user friendly. I found it to carry quality and features which surpass units of comparable price. |

This brand was recommended by my doctor. The monitor and included software works well and was easy to assemble and install on Vista. I am using this BP monitor along with an Omron pedometer, which the software also supports, to get a more complete overview of how BP is affected when measured against physical activity levels.
The software allows for (3) measurements per day and allows you to view the results in a variety of ways including Day, Week and Month along with AM / PM averaging and combination screens that include pedometer readings.
I have been using this product for a month and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants or needs to accurately monitor BP on a daily basis. |

| Initial setup for configuration of the product was easy, but it did require me to read instruction manual. I configured the product to automatically take 3 blood pressure measurements with 1 minute delay between measurements. After all 3 measurements were taken, to display the average of all 3 measurements. The manual was easy to follow, so I had no difficulty in configuring the product. The product itself is very easy to use and works quite well. To my surprise, installation and use of the software also was very easy and occured without problems. It is quite simple to download blood pressure measurements and to printoff reports or graphs for our family physician to review using the software that came with the product. A number of different graphs can be displayed or printed. The graphs make it very easy to see trends such as blood pressure increasing over time, descreasing over time, or is stable. This is very handy when trying to find the right dosage for blood pressure medication. The product met all of my expectations, what more can I say? |

| This was a good purchase. Great bagain considering the price I paid through Amazon. This makes daily monitoring of BP a snap. Put it in a drawer of your desk at work and pop the cuff on periodically throughout the day -- paints a much clearer picture of your BP situation. Load the software onto your PC and downloading historical data from the device to your PC is easy. The graphical reports paint the picture you need to see. Your Dr will love the comprehensive nature of the data. Now -- instead of having to visit my Dr. every 30-days I just email him the reports from the software. The preformed cuff is a real plus too. Great value for the money. I find that -- because of its ease-of-use -- I take my BP much more frequently and regularly throughout the day allowing my Dr. to get a much better picture of my BP situation. This has allowed him to tweak the meds more effectively. |

| The Omron HEM 790-IT is a very easy to use BP machine with great accuracy. The feature of being able to either do just one measurement or set of three in one minute intervals automatically to get an average BP reading is great. The best thing I like is the software program where I can download my readings via USB on my PC and it be automatically charted and graphed for me to read or print out for my doctor to review. Hi,
I bought this and used it for the last 3 weeks. It is very accurate (tested at doctors office against their machine (same brand)). The software and computer link up provides good information and the doctor was impressed with the data it supplied. This device is very good and I recommend this model if you want to keep track of you blood pressure, but do not want to write it down. You can buy lesser models of the same brand, but for the ease of use factor of the software interface, I highly recommend spending the x more dollars to get this model.
It is a good value and works well.

It allow 2 people to monitor there blood pressure separately and you can very easily download your data to the software which comes with the monitor. The monitor keeps tract of the time of day so that the software can show if you took your pressure in the morning, during the day, or night. There are also markings on the blood pressure cuff to make sure you put it on correctly. |
Just What I Was Looking For

After recently joining a cardiac rehab group at a local hospital, I found out my 14 year old BP monitor was off quite a bit. Since I needed to replace it, I wanted a new one that was accurate and it sure would be nice if it would log the readings for me so I didn't have to write them down. After searching for what was available, I ended up at Amazon where the price for the Omron HEM-790IT was very competitive and I knew from past experiences, the service was outstanding. I ordered the HEM-790IT and it arrived in less than 2 days. It didn't take long to look at the instruction manual, install the batteries, install the included Health Management Software on my PC, and start using the HEM-790IT which automatically inflates the cuff to take measurements. The HEM-790IT is super simple to set up and I chose the high accuracy mode which takes 3 BP readings and averages them each time you use it. These values are logged into the units memory and saved as morning, daytime, or evening readings, depending on the time of day they were taken. After taking my pressure for 4 days, I started my PC, opened the Health Management Software, plugged the cable into the BP monitor and my PC, and followed the simple steps to download my readings. There on my PC screen was a graph showing the BP readings for the past 4 days with options for displaying the data in different formats. Just what I was looking for!
I have now used the HEM-790IT for over a month and am still extremely satisfied. My readings are comparable to those taken at my cardiac rehab, I'm able to see trends in my BP readings, and I can print a report to send to my doctor so we can see how the medication I take is working. |

I had a wrist b-p monitor & everytime I had the b-p checked at the doctors it was way off, so I bought a blood pressure monitor for the arm at Costco for $39.95.That also was way off so I took it back. I then ordered the Omron HEM-790IT from amazon.com. It calibrated right on with the doctors b-p monitor.
It is very easy to use & gives large readable results. Would highly recommend for home b-p & pulse readings. |

| I previously gave this product a poor review before I learned how to attach the cuff. The best way is to attach the ends of the cuff while it is off your arm - set it a little wider than your upper arm and then slide it up over your forearm onto your upper arm. Otherwise you will have a difficult time grasping the two ends to get a tight enough fit. That problem being solved I find this to be a very easy to use and accurate BP guage - I have compared it to readings at those free bp machines you find at drugstores and also after coming home from the doctors office always to find it very close. The memory feature is great as you can look back over many readings and keep track of your person "pattern". I highly recommend this product. |

We picked this up recently to replace an older Omron model 711, which had no way to talk to a computer. This particular unit is good for two people to track their BP & heart rate, and it works great, just as the older Omron did.
The 790IT is simple to use, as is its software. The ability to transfer data to a computer is a real time saver and makes it easy to keep track of things (and when dad is a doctor and moms a nurse, you have no other choice). You can also export to excel format and PDF. The PDF is a neat little report suitable for emailing.
I wish this thing had blue tooth or basic wireless networking capability so I could just take a reading and let the computer deal with it without the mandatory manual periodic uploads via that silly USB cable. Still, it's certainly way better than a unit with no communications capability at all.
Just for fun, I ran the new Omron 790IT against the old model 711 simultaneously, one on each arm. I have always found these things to be accurate and decided to test them head-to-head. The old one has 1.5 year old batteries & took slightly longer than the newer one with fresh batteries-
New Old
790IT (Left arm) 711DLX (Right arm)
-------------------- ---------------------------
pulse: same or within one beat.
bp: within 2 or 3 points.
I really feel it should have wireless capability, but that's how I feel about everything anyway so won't pick on this unit specifically. I give it 5 stars for ease of use and accuracy, and the easy to use software.
It's also a real bargain for the price ($73.27), thanks to the oppressed Chinese labor used to assemble it.

Excellent BP Monitor

The HEM-790IT is a well built and designed blood pressure device with lots of capabilities. It is obvious the design engineers put a lot of thought into the development of this unit. The display is well laid out and the numbers are large so you don't need glasses to read it. The unit comes with a 'stiff' cuff and an USB cable to transfer data from the 790IT to your computer. Some have commented that the BP Health Management software that comes with the unit is not supported in Windows 7. However, it installed and is running ok on my PC which is running Windows 7 (64 bit).
Included in the unit is several nice functions such as it takes 3 readings and then averages out to get a more accurate reading. I use this exclusively. There was one read session that had large variations in the 3 readings which I didn't understand. For example I got systolic readings of 124, 117, and 104 that were taken at 1 minute intervals. Is this accurate or is this a bogus read? However, most reads were consistent like 115, 112, and 111. This makes more sense but then again there have been many discussions about how one BP reading can affect the next reading so the one anomaly may have been valid. Anyway the 790IT seems to follow the expected patterns of higher BP readings in the morning and lower in the evening and over a long period of time the average readings were consistent with each other. On one read I was in a hurry to go somewhere so I didn't take the time to relax before I took the read. This resulted in a much higher reading which is what I would have expected.
All measurements are stored in non-volatile memory. You can read the averages for several weeks of stored data, read only the morning BP data, or read only the evening BP data. You can take mid day readings also. After taking 3 readings for a particular session the display shows the average. Pressing the reset button will toggle you through the individual readings that were taken and used for the averaging. Your heart rate is also shown. The unit is very flexible and it even has a warning if the heart rate is irregular.
What I like about electronic monitors versus those used at the doctor's office (which I also own) is taking readings will always give consistent numbers as the electronic circuits are very accurate in using identical measurement levels for each read. So tracking your BP will be consistent and show you the trends you are looking for. I have had quite dissimilar readings at the doctor's office taken by the nurse then by the doctor so this method can be dependent on the person taking the readings.
Transferring the data from the 790IT unit to your PC is very simple. Open up the Health Management program on your PC then plug the USB cable into the 790IT (power does not have to be 'ON'). Click on the "Download Data" button and specify which user the data should be associated with and that is it. The Health Management program is easy to use and provides several options for viewing the data. It is one of those programs that you don't need to pour through manuals in order to use it. Everything is obvious.
The 790IT can be operated standalone with batteries or it comes with a wall plug-in power pack. Finally the unit comes in a very nice carrying case in the event you want to take it during your travels.
When taking BP measurements I have found that using the controlled breathing techniques (i.e., 6 slow, deep breaths per minute) for about 2 minutes before and during the measurement sessions gives low and consistent blood pressure measurements. I also noticed this at the doctor's office so I have bought into this system of helping to lower blood pressure.
All in all I like and highly recommend this unit. So far no negatives.

| I have used the monitor for a few weeks now, including downloading to my computer. Overall, the monitor operates flawlessly. Cuff is comfortable and easy to use. Tracking data is good, and weekly averages help. Download and provided software are good and easy to use. Graphs are easy to interpret. I would recomend reading the instructions as it has numerous (good) features, like three step averaging. I can't vouch for the accuracy as I have not taken it to my doctors' office and done a comparison - however, it seems to be in the range that my BP is normally. |

| I bought this for my husband and he really likes it. It helps him keep track of his blood pressure. I used it too and it is super simple to use. The buttons are large, the print is clear and large, the directions require little reading and are very short with big pictures. It seems accurate too. When I used it, it was consistent with what the readings were at my doctor's office. I like how it keeps track of the history of readings for two people. |

| It has been hard to get my husband to track his BP until we got the Omron HEM-790IT. Now it is like a game for us. He actually tracks me down to get me to do it too! It is really accurate with the 3 step averaging and we love the graphs. It gives us peace of mind, plus we will have something to take to the doctor next time as he is trying to get stabilized on new medicine. We Love it. |

| Unbelievably simple to use and accurate. I was looking for a simple to use device that I could use every morning before I forgot and this has been fantastic. The PC interface is great for tracking long term trends and printing off reports to take to the doctor. Highly recommended. |
Just as expected.

| This unit delivers everything it advertises. It works perfectly and it is constantly accurate. I have no complaints about this and have reccommended it to many others. The price was good and then it went down $20 after I purchased it. I contacted amazon and they refunded me the difference. I would absolutely reccomend this unit to others. |

| Found this item easy to use. Comes with great software to record and print out a BP history. Comes in handy for the doctor visits. Large easy read screen. 1 large button "start/stop" is all you have to push. Other buttons for more options. The PC download option is the main reason to get this model. If you don't want that get cheaper model. |
User-friendly and fairly priced

| My only complaint is that I generally require two or three attempts before the cuff fully inflates. Accurate placement of the cuff is necessary or else you will get an error message. The software is super and I will now be able to give my physician a month's worth of twice-daily readings. I recommend this model. |

| I took this monitor to my doctors office to see how accurate it was. The readings on this machine were the same as his when my pressure was taken. It is very easy to use, accurate, and it saves all the readings which can be uploaded to a computer. I just e-mail my doc my weekly readings. It saves me a 30 mile trip a week, and helps me and my doc know when and if my pressure needs medication adjustments. Very reasonable price! |

| This is a superb blood pressure monitor. I have to give it 5 stars. It's easy to place the cuff and it gives a reading fast almost like the doctor's office. I like having the ability to download the readings to my PC. This enables the user to share the info with His/Her doctor easily. I'm not sure of the accuracy as I haven't taken it to my doctor to compare readings. I'm sure impressed with this model so far. I think it's the best one out there. |
Automatic BP Cuff

| I bought this to replace one that was probably 20 years old. I am sorry I waited so long. The cuff is easy to place and does not squeeze your arm until it feels like it is going to fall off. I haven't connected it to my computer, I am not sure I ever will as it is easy to keep track of BP manually. Overall very happy with device. |

| I've used this blood pressure monitor for a month and find it to be accurate and easy to use. The software does a great job of keeping the data and graphing it so I can compare all my readings or just morning readings or day readings or evening readings. It also can export the data to Excel or I can print out a pdf file report. I am very pleased. |
