Haven't found anything better

I've tried another recovery drink in hopes to find something cheaper and with less calories, but nothing compares to this (sorry, Musclepharm Recon). It's expensive, but I'd rather pay for it than have horrible soreness and not have as good of results from exercising. It tastes great, doesn't upset my stomach, mixes easily with a spoon...no complaints other than the fact that it's cheapest when you buy it on autoship from Beachbody's website, so don't buy it from Amazon.
Basically, I can't live without this drink and to make things better, it taste's awesome.
Worth the price when pushing your limits!

My husband and I drank this after our P90X workouts and we are currently drinking it after our Insanity workouts. We absolutely LOVE the taste and it is true that you begin to look forward to it after you finish exercising. Besides being a treat for the taste buds, I believe it is very effective at minimizing soreness and helping my body to regenerate. I believe this because we have done and are doing some of the hardest routines on DVD, and I have felt the difference in the way I feel when I don't drink it. I highly recommend it for the taste, results, and price when you are engaging in a difficult exercise program, but I find it is a bit too expensive to use on a regular basis.

Simply the best and most satifying recovery drink that I have ever tasted and used. The P90X Results and Recovery Formula really works. I've tried lots of protein shakes energy drinks for workouts and nothing compares to this stuff. It tastes amazing. Great job BeachBody.

It tastes OK (like an orange smoothie) and it really works. I use it before the P90X "Ab Ripper X" to regain some energy I lost during their brutal 1 hr workouts. Picks me right up!
Love this stuff

The product is great, it is useful if you are doing p90x and exercising regularly. It also tastes good as well. I had a little problem when it was shipped, but customer service was great, and acted quickly to satisfy me.

One of the best tasting nutrition drinks I've ever tasted. Mixes better if you put it in a blender.

I have order this product twice now. each time I have received this product it is advertised as a 30 day supply and there is only 26 envelopes in the boxes that I have ordered. Someone needs to learn how to count or become more honest with your clients. This is the reason why I do not like ordering on the internet.
Good Recovery Drink

I always get fed up reading other reviews that don't help me figure out if I want to buy a product or not, so I figured I'd write one on a product that works for me.

The P90X Results and Recovery shake is a good combination of after workout Protien, Creatine, and Amino-Acids. What does this mean? It means that it has all of the things that every extreme athelete is looking for after a solid workout.

I'm a health nut, and I was already a body builder before I started the P90X system. While my normal workouts were tough, they never really pushed me to the point of wanting to dry heave, but the P90X really allowed me to stretch my self. The first month I went with a standard mix of Creatine* + Protien a couple of times a day and mixed with fruit punch for my recovery drink, but I found that I really needed a lot of electrolyte replacement as well. I was feeling very sick (just completely exhausted) after my workouts and I had to drive over to the corner store to pickup a gatorade/powerade before I would start feeling good again. That really started to change my opinions about the need for a purchasing a recovery drink that focused on post workout recovery.

I purchased the P90X Results and Recovery formula during my second month of the P90X workouts and when I got exhausted it really made a huge difference in the 20 minutes directly after the workout. It already has the Creatine, Protien, and electrolytes all ready to go for the second your done.

Now for the important questions... Was it worth buying? It depends. If you are just doing the workouts and getting slightly winded but not really pushing yourself to an extreme state of fatigue, you can get away without using a recovery drink. If you are pushing yourself as hard as you can, to the point of complete exhaustion then a recovery drink directly after a workout is mandetory, and this one works very effectively. I'm starting my third rotation of P90X and I use this after all of the really intense workouts, and my normal protien + fruit punch for all the other workouts. One tub usually lasts me about 2 months.

I gave it 4/5 stars because it does cost a little more, and you can get other brands that seem to do as well. You could use a creatine/protien blend and a good sports drink after every workout for the same results, although the over all price of doing that would probably be a little bit more than just getting a recovery drink that is specific for post workout recovery.

*Creatine Monohydrate is a dietary supplement that hydrates your muscles and aids in recovery. It is used by a large majority of athletes and body builders to aid in increasing how far you can push yourself in workout sets and minimizing the time between workouts. It is generally recommended to use it for 3 months and then to take a 2-3 month break.

** Several reviews were saying you get the same out of Chocolate Milk... You can't, period. There are specific suppliments in a recovery drink that are health industry known for helping in recovery. Ie.. Creatine, L-Arginine, and L-Glutamine. You can get all of these from other recovery drinks. But chocolate milk won't do it, even if it has similar calories to a recovery drink. It's not about the calories/fat/sugar, it's about everything else.
Surprisingly delicious!

As the previous reviewer mentioned, this is the part of the workout I look forward to! The drink is very tasty! I noticed it has a good portion of sugar in it, but after doing some research I found that the types of sugars it provides are fantastic for your body after a good cardio workout. (Maybe I'd have already known that if I actually read the P90-X nutrition book like a good little excerciser)

I used the P90-X workout program for awhile without a recovery drink and other protein drinks, but I found that I was constantly hungry. Turns out the foods I normally eat (though healthy by most means) weren't providing my body with the nutrients it was craving. After purchasing this recovery drink for after my cardio workouts and a protein drink for other times of the day, I became less hungry in general and have accelerated the decline in my body fat percentage! I'm sure you might be able to put together some other great recovery drinks by buying each supplement and mixing, but I don't have the time, space, or care to do that. This recovery drink has been wonderful for me so far.
Works for me

I get a great (post) work out pick-me-up from this drink. I'm on Phase 2 and ran out of the drink and decided to try some GNC Pure Whey Protein mix, while this tastes okay, I have been really feeling the aches and pains the next morning after resistance training workouts. Without a doubt I'm going to jump back to the P90x mix for Phase 3. It seems with a high protein diet I get a little on the gassy side, so the P90X doesn't make that much of a difference to my digestion system anyways.

Pros:
Quicker Recovery
Less Muscle Aches/Fatigue
Great tasting

Cons:
This is not, nor does it claim to be and ALL NATURAL product, though I wish it could be healthier.
Expensive.
Tastes great and I'm less sore!

Review Date: February 22, 2010
Reviewer: Eileen Ahn, CA
Yeah, it's expensive. It hurt a bit to pay for this but I think it's worth it. Costs knocks off a star.

Taste :: as many people have stated all over the net, this drink tastes great. It tastes 1000x better when it's cold. So I mix it up and then throw in some ice cubes, let it sit for a minute and chug away.

Recovery :: I take this drink after intense workouts.. especially ones that I know will make me sore. Comparing the days I don't drink this to the days that I do...the next morning I am definitely less sore when I've had the P90x Recovery drink.

The Drink :: There was a lot of research put into this drinks and it has the right ratio of carbs, protein, and sugar. I know it seems ironic that a drink would have so much sugar in it but it's not for the taste...it's for the recovery. After an intense workout like that, your body will soak it right up.. it's not going to your gut. The serving suggests two scoops but I'm trying to make it go a bit longer and just do one scoop. It's a pretty concentrated drink so it still tastes fine and I still feel the difference.

A great plus for anybody who can put down the money. I've never had any other brands and many people have suggested Chocolate milk but it's not the same for me.
Great Drink!

This after workout drink is great especially if you're doing the P90X workout DVDs. It does have an acquired after taste but you don't feel so sore after work outs! I highly recommend it!
Over-priced upset stomach

Review Date: March 1, 2010
Reviewer: M. McMillan, FL
Just as a preface to my review: The other reviews I've read here are all very positive, so I wanted to offer this bit of more negative information. So, I am seven weeks into P90X. The videos recommend this supplement after every workout. First, I do think there are nutritional benefits to using this recovery drink; however, I think they are overstated and not necessarily tied to this specific product. If you compare the protein and electrolyte content of the P90X Recovery drink to chocolate milk, you can see that they are pretty similar. Now, I'm not saying you should just chug chocolate milk after cardio or plyometrics, but it is one example of a much cheaper comparative product. Aside from the expensive cost ($60 for one month) of the P90X Recovery drink, I would also like to note that when I use the drink, I routinely suffer from an upset stomach (read: "killer diarrhea"). While this could just be me, I have spoken to other P90X participants who have similar digestive complaints. Aside from those two big drawbacks (it's over-priced and induces diarrhea), I do believe there are definite benefits to using this or other similar products. Also, it really does taste pretty good--like orange sherbet, and is a nice healthy treat after a hard workout.
Doesn't taste as good as chocolate milk

I tried this because I am doing P90X and wanted to do what was best for my body. Well, it does taste pretty good but after a little research, I can get the same results out of chocolate milk. It's been 83 days and I have gone from 210 lbs to 172 lbs and look better than I did 20 years ago and I did it mostly without this product.
The Best Recovery Drink, but Deceptive Packaging

Review Date: May 23, 2010
Reviewer: User's Corner,
Well, tastes differ among people, but while those who expect a drink such as this to to have a natural taste would be disappointed, this is the best tasting recovery drink I have ever used. I find it addicting and crave for it after a workout. So, why do I give it only 3 stars? It is much more expensive than it needs to be and the decision to only fill the container 2/3 of the way is really disappointing. I don't understand how companies continue to do this knowing how deceptive it is perceived by a customer to receive a container that isn't filled to capacity. It is this and not the drink that leaves a bad taste in one's mouth. I thought this kind of deception was not considered acceptable in the drinks industry. It reminds me of some of the products sold at pool supply stores (Ever bought a container of Stop Yellow? It will be half full, if that). Let the demand sell your product and charge whatever you feel will give you the most profit, but please cut the silliness and fill the container to the top.
Way too much sugar

Review Date: May 18, 2010
Reviewer: zswaps, New York, NY
I'll preface this review by stating that I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but this product is way too sweet. I'm about 2 weeks into P90X and I agree with some other reviewers that a protein drink is really necessary to recovery from the tough work-outs. But we are all trying to cut down on the sugar, even the complex ones like fructose. You can easily get the same amount of protein for half the sugar. Just check out any health food store or GNC.
Doesn't taste as good as they say

Review Date: July 28, 2010
Reviewer: Niki Pados,
I bought the GNC Version of the recovery drink, and found the tastes wasn't that great. SO i went and bought the p90x recovery drink, and was hoping for a better taste. It tastes like a bad Creamsicle.
I can barley drink it. I have to plug my nose to get it down.
If you aren't a fan of citrus shakes, then I don't recommend this drink. I know that when I run out, I'm going back to GNC. I do recommend taking the recovery drink, as it helps you body recover. I forgot to take it one day and I was really sore the next morning.
P90X Recovery drink - it's a mix of chemicals & crap!

Review Date: April 21, 2010
Reviewer: L. Hernandez, Redmond, WA
This product is really garbage...hardly any protein per serving, tastes like crap, full of sugar and is WAY overpriced!! One guy in another review said the product gives his stomach cramps and diarrhea, it's no wonder...have you looked at the ingredients? It's a bunch of crap! Artificial ingredients, chemicals and Maltodextrin!! Maltodextrin is a cheap filler ingredient that food companies use to get you hooked on their product. It helps to mask the flavor because it is so bad. This additive is known to cause all sorts of digestive problems and disease. I do not recommend any of the P90X supplements but I do like the P90x workouts!

Other Ingredients: Glucose, Fructose, Whey Protein Concentrate, Maltodextrin, Citric
Acid, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Lecithin, L-Arginine, D-alpha Tocopheryl Acetate,
Creatine Monohydrate, L-Glutamine, Ascorbic Acid, Magnesium Oxide, Potassium
Phosphate, Sodium Chloride, Carrageenan, Niacinamide, Beta Carotene, Pyridoxine
Hydrochloride, Thiamine Mononitrate, Riboflavin, and Cyanocobalamin.

Reviewer: Ivan Perez,
First off, EXCELLENT TASTING DRINK. Reminds me of an Orange Julius. This drink is what I look forward to after a tough workout with P90X.

However....why would you buy a 30-day supply through Amazon for $99 when you can purchase the same 30-day supply for $50 at [...]?

Dont buy it here, go to BeachBody to purchase. The price here is ridiculous.
