Scott Bath Tissue

Review Date: August 26, 2006
Reviewer: J L, Chicago, Il USA
This is not something I take pleasure in buying but it is important nonetheless. I have tried every brand out there. Scott, 1000 sheets has my vote. It has the necessary softness and is more than competitive in how long it lasts. The case pack is a convenient way to order. Now, I don't have to add bath tissue to my grocery list every week.
Math problem

I think the previous reviewer is dividing by 20 rather than 40 rolls (two 20 roll packs). I get a figure of approximately 80 cents per roll. With the $10.00 Amazon discount, the price drops to approximately 55 cents a roll.
AMAZON PRICE - CHEAPER THAN WALMART + NO HAULING FROM THE STORE

Reviewer: C. Peters, Vernal, Utah
I always buy Scott Bath Tissue, anyway! It may not be as soft as Charmin or some of the other softer brands of TP, but it is just fine for our family's needs and besides it just gets flushed down the toilet anyway. I hate changing TP rolls and this way, I don't have to change as often as those softer brands. I am always looking for ways to save money on Grocery/Household items. This saves me only about $10.00 per year but then I don't have to transport it myself from the store. With the subscription rate including free shipping, Scott Bath Tissue white - 20 ct pkgs (pack of 2) is about 74 cents a roll. It costs me approximately 79 cents a roll at Walmart, including tax. So, I feel that this may be a small savings of $ but an added savings to my slowly- getting-older body!
A soft, sturdy tissue for your "delicate tissues."

I never, ever thought I'd be writing a review of T.P., the white stuff kids use to wrap around trees on prank nights out on the town. (Do they still do that?) There was a time (many years ago) when I was too bashful to pick it up at the grocery store for my mother. But times have changed ... so on with my review:

Scott tissue has long been a favorite of my family because it's tough enough to get the job done while still remaining soft and gentle. I like the fact that there's so many sheets on one roll which makes it last longer, meaniing fewer trips to the store.

I can't see purchasing this through the mail, though, because it's too bulky. But it's a great product!!!

The only bath tissue we use

Reviewer: Amanda, NH
It's soft, strong, and absorbent. You won't need to use miles of this toilet tissue to do the job. Also it won't clog septic systems. It quickly breaks down in water compared to most toilet papers, which is a big deal if your house has a septic tank. If you don't have a septic system, use it anyway.
The new look puts this bath tissue over the top

Review Date: July 25, 2008
Reviewer: Steward Willons, Illinois
There's no doubt that the burning question on everyone's mind is, what's up with the NEW LOOK advertised on the package? Well, as a user of Scott Bath Tissue, I can happily report that it's . . . still white. If anyone is worried that they won't be able to recognize their beloved Scott, rest assured, you'll still know it. New look, same great ability to absorb - stuff.

My biggest question is, what is 'bath tissue'? It *must* be something you use when taking a "bath", right? I know what toilet paper is, and I know what bathROOM tissue is, but what exactly is 'bath' tissue?

Seriously though, Scott bath tissue is great. It's a nice white color, it's on a roll for easy access, it has a cardboard tube in the center specially designed to fit standard toilet paper dispensers, it absorbs moisture - basically, everything you could ever want in a toilet paper. As a fan of personal cleanliness, I highly highly recommend . . . using toilet paper.

40 rolls at .55 cents each is $22.00. The price offered currently is $29.96 (including the 15% discount) equals .75 cents per roll, which is the regular price of 1 roll at most stores. The product is good, but this purchase offers convienence at a standard price.
Scott Tissue is excellent buy!

I dislike having to carry great bundles of t. paper through the grocery store; they fill up the cart so quickly. The price is not bad and the convenience of home shopping is great.
Home delivery at a great price!!!

Reviewer: Shopper, USA
I have purchased this product thru Subscribe and Save. The price was the same as that offered ON SALE at my supermarket, but without the taxes and with home delivery...Cannot beat that! The delivery under the program was quick (five days, including the weekend, between the time the order was placed and the day it was delivered)! No more weekly struggle in the supermarket parking lot with bulky items!

I have been using this brand of toilet paper exclusively for years now. It is one ply, but holds together MUCH better then other brands. It lasts longer and costs less then the fluffier brands...There is no white fluff to stick to your hands/body...Yey! to Amazon for carrying this product!
Best TP to use if you tend to have frequent UTIs

Review Date: January 3, 2010
Reviewer: Andrea Wasson, Clackamas, Oregon United States
Okay, not the most romantic or fun product to review but I am putting my $.02 in because Scott is the only toilet paper I use for one very good reason. Every other paper I have tried tends to provoke a UTI in me... our doctor says the softer papers contain more loose fibers, often of unknown content and in some people the fibers in the softer TPs do tend to irritate "sensitive areas"... which can cause bladder infections and UTI's in general in some people. Bottom line, softer is not always better...and frankly Scott is not only stronger, it lasts a lot longer, and in the long run it is cheaper to use than those cushy ones.

Great for the office!

Review Date: January 7, 2008
Reviewer: J. Labit, St. Louis, MO United States
This tissue isn't the best, but it is priced well and absolutely acceptable for everyday office use. We started purchasing this product after getting tired of sending staff out to the store every week to purchase paper products for the office. Our company is very busy and we just don't have time to use staff hours to grocery shop! We use Amazon Prime all the time, so I set out to find a bath tissue that could be shipped to the office using our free shipping. I chose the Scott brand tissue because it was the best product at the best value.

Now we use Subscribe and Save to have this product automatically shipped to our office once every month. So, overall, five stars for convenience, appropriateness and price...

Reviewer: Jennifer Miller, Hartly, DE
Scott is my favorite toilet tissue anyway (because of it's length of use - rolls don't run out that fast), and it's great for our septic (other tissues don't break down and clog).

The large bulk item is great, because you don't have to fill your shopping cart at the store with toilet paper...
Great for people with septic tanks!

I bought this because almost every other brand of tp clogs my septic tank. This might not be as soft as Scott Extra Soft, but the Extra Soft variety shreds with use. I don't have that problem with the Original Scott Bath Tissue. Unfortunately, I can't find the Original Scott in any of my local grocery stores. I'm so glad that Amazon carries it!

Scott tissues have always been my favorite brand because they last longer. I ordered these for my mother because I still have a good supply. The only thing I don't care for is the way they are packed. I like my boxes fully sealed up. They put these in a box that had lids too short to cover the package, so the tape was partially attached to the plastic covering.

I am always shopping for the best price, and besides being lucky enough to catch Scott tissue on sale with coupons (a tricky proposition), I would have to be able to do that for 3 months at a time - with subscribe and save, I get the best price shipped to my door. LOVE IT! Not all subscribe and saves are this good of a deal, but Scott tissue is all we use.

Rather Pay More than Shop at Sams Club or Walmart!

Review Date: January 10, 2009
Reviewer: Mizerello, Portland, OR United States
To the reviewer who gave the product a 1 star because, once you add shipping and handling it is more expensive than Sam's Club--I'll happily pay a bit more if it means my hard earned money is not going to the Walmart family. This company pays minimum wage to their workers, forces them to work overtime for no pay, hires people for part time mostly so they don't have to pay any benefits and destroys every community they go into. Our town used to have a flourishing downtown. No more. The family that owns Walmart are disgusting, greedy people. They are responsible for almost everything we use in this country being made in China. So, as far as I'm concerned, not only is this a great product for folks with septic tanks, I'll gladly buy it via Amazon if it means Walmart will not be getting my money!
WIPE This Overpriced Item Off Your List!

Reviewer: Jo-Anne, La Belle, FL USA
While I DO love Scott Brand products...I don't think this package is such a great deal....this price works out to $1.60 per roll!! I thought buying in bulk was supposed to be cheaper?? You can buy a 4-pack for around $3.00, well, at least you can here in Florida! Total waste of money..unless it's necessary you buy in bulk. Maybe with the $20 off special it MAY be worth it?
I'm in agreement with the fellow reviewers! Scott HAS changed (and don't you just hate when companies fix what isn't broke??) and their toilet paper now has a stiff, scratchy feel..guess that's why they came up with the Extra Soft version. And yes, it seems they WELD the start sheet to the roll now..I think they want you to use up half the roll just getting it started..to make you buy MORE and more frequently!! I think I'll pass on this "package deal"..I don't have money to FLUSH!
excellent bath tissue even if a bit rough for some people

Review Date: August 4, 2007
Reviewer: Matthew G. Sherwin, last seen screaming at Amazon customer service
Scott makes a great toilet tissue: it seems that I get longer use out of a roll than when I tried other brands such as Charmin. The roll is thick but it's easy to store in the 20 roll plastic bag it comes in or you can unpack the twenty rolls and store them in various bathrooms or closets around your home.

As at least one other reviewer has noted, there is a slight trick to starting the roll. The actual roll of toilet tissue comes wrapped in paper. Therefore you first unwrap the roll of toilet paper; and when you unwrap that roll, the first few sheets of the toilet paper are stuck to the rest of the roll by a very mild glue. Nevertheless, I have had to carefully examine the darn thing to decide where the roll begins and where to pull away the first few sheets of toilet tissue. Ay!

On the bright side, however, this toilet tissue is easy on your toilet pipes and I've never had a clog. Don't use too much or you WILL get a clogged toilet--but you'll be able to use it well intuitively.

Naturally toilet paper never "goes stale" or "wears out." If you can catch a sale on this item and you like it, stock up!

The only real drawback which turns some people off is that the actual toilet paper itself is not as soft as some other brands--like Charmin. This is totally a matter of personal preference. I have used both and both get the job done. However, I noticed that Charmin and similar ultra soft brands seemed to go faster than Scott tissue did. Scott is not too rough for me; but I will take off one star because of this issue to make this a four star review.

Overall, Scott toilet tissue is well worth a try, especially when you get it on sale. Try some today--I hope you are satisfied with it!
EXCELLENT VALUE & PERFECT FOR SOME WHILE A LITTLE TO RUGGED FOR OTHERS

YES SCOTT'S IS THE MOST POPULAR BATHROOM TISSUE SINCE TIME BEGAN -- BUT

THE "BOUNTY" of Bathroom Tissue: BUT THIS STD. FORM IS A LITTLE ROUGH

This "Scott Bathroom Tissue" is strong, very long lasting, and a terrific value. There is, however, one rub -- it is a little rough for this application, especially for frequent usage [which is why they recently introduced a "Scott's Extra Soft" product]. "Charmin Ultra" would be a better choice if you need extra softness and some store brands such as Kroger, Shop-Rite, and Wal-Mart's "Great Value" are comparable value-specific picks.

Scott's has always been considered the "Gold Standard" for the bathroom, but its superiority has been challenged increasingly in recent years. If you still like this product, there is no reason to change. However if your needs now require a softer tissue, try "Scott's Extra Soft" or "Charmin Ultra".

I have recently noticed as have other reviewers, that the glued end of the paper roll that must be pulled apart in order to start the roll seems very hard to detach. This seems to be a new phenomenon and leads me to believe that things have changed at Scott and not for the better. Maybe it is just a fluke. Maybe it is no big deal. And maybe the Scott Bathroom tissue isn't quite as good as it used to be. Maybe it is rougher and coarser than before. Just maybe. In the meantime, however, I am NOW using "Charmin Ultra" after 40 years of continuous Scott patronage.

Rolls last longer

Review Date: October 20, 2008
Reviewer: Turtle502, Pitman, NJ USA
Put simply, these rolls last longer than other types of toilet paper, including other Scott variants. When it comes to toilet paper, this is about as simple as it gets. With a 1,000 sheets on each roll, you'll find yourself changing the roll less often.

I've found these rolls to be extremely cost-effective with my daughter in the house, who tends to use more toilet paper than necessary. I'd recommend these in households with multiple bathrooms and three or more people. Because the rolls last longer, I end up buying less often. These are simply much more convenient.
Good tissue but way overpriced

I used to buy this tissue on Amazon but K-mart, Target and Food 4 Less always price it at $13.99 for 20 roll pack. Even with the taxes it is still around $13 cheaper for 2/20 roll pack . I think Amazon needs to drop their price considerably.

It's ok, but please note it is 1-Ply Toilet Paper

Review Date: September 14, 2009
Reviewer: Heath L. Buckmaster, Sacramento, CA USA
In a civilized world there should never be 1-ply toilet paper. That's the one place you want to make sure there are plenty of ply's available.

Nowhere in the product description does it tell you this is 1-Ply, and so I made the mistake of buying two huge packages of it (the price was good), only to discover that I'm having to pull too much off the roll then fold it up to make my own 2-ply toilet paper. It's wasteful.

I am giving this product 2 stars for the following reasons:
- Poorly marketed. Should be very clear that the product is 1-ply.
- The fact that is it 1-ply in the first place, for such a sensitive body area.
- I have to waste too much of it to create my own 2-ply.
- I'm frustrated.
Way overpriced!

The warehouse club price for this brand is $0.61/roll. Even before shipping and with the 15% subscription discount, this is $0.83/roll. So, it's 36% more expensive here than at Sam's Club. The house brand is even less expensive, at $0.42/roll. So, you'll pay a high price for the convenience of having this delivered!
Used to like this product fine until they cheapened it

Review Date: April 8, 2009
Reviewer: yogagirl, chicago
This product has been cheapened recently. In the prior batch I purchased, it was as expected. In the new batch, purchased 04/07/09, they reduced the amount of pulp in the paper so now its so thin it is like an onion skin. You can literally see all the airholes. It also now has a weird texture and doesn't 'bunch up' the way it used to. It is cheaper than the cheapest toilet paper I used 20 years ago when visiting a communist country. I am switching brands.
Priced too high!

I use Scott's Tissue, and it's good long lasting tissue. But I can get it at the local grocery story in a 12 roll pack for around 8.00 when it's not on sale. When it is on sale I can get it for around 6.50 for a 12 roll package. That means I can get 36 rolls for 24.00 and change at the normal price, and 36 rolls for 20.00 and change when it's on sale. I'm not about to pay Amazon 15.00 more for 4 more rolls, even if it's shipped to my door! This is way over priced, even if it is good tissue paper. I'm giving it 1 star because of Amazon's price issue. Just sayin'. Some folks need to do some math.

This is the worst purchase I've made. This is not the tissue you purchase at the grocery store -- this paper feels like sand. I didn't think they made single ply any more - so it was my mistake, but I won't make it again. You know the paper's bad when the toilet paper at your office is better than what you have at home.

Because of the great reviews I assumed this TP was the stuff dreams were made of. Instead, I got more cushion in the TP in a state park porta potty. If you value your delicate areas, go with something like the Charmin Ultra Bathroom Tissue, 8 Giant Rolls (Pack of 5).

On the pro side, I have not had a single toilet clog from this stuff. It is just so thin that it all goes down in one flush.

Forests are being destroyed to make toilet paper

Review Date: August 4, 2007
Reviewer: Azima, Rhode Island
Forests are being destroyed to make toilet paper, facial tissues, paper towels and other disposable paper products. I used to buy Scott, but I can't in good conscience continue, so I am buying Seventh Generation toilet paper from Amazon. Many big brands also still use chlorine bleach, a very toxic substance containing chlorinated organic compounds and dioxins, to whiten their product when safer methods are available. I've recently learned that if every household in the United States replaced JUST ONE ROLL of virgin fiber toilet paper (500 sheets) with 100% recycled ones, we could save 423,900 trees!! If you can't afford to buy all your paper from a green producer, maybe you could just replace ONE roll each time you shop. Here is your chance to make a small change that will reap big benefits for our environment. Go to the NRDC website to see which disposable paper products use the most post-consumer recycled material and non-chlorine bleaching, and also to see how you can pressure the big paper companies to increase their post-consumer paper content.
